“My Big Fat Fabulous Life” star Whitney Way Thore had to say goodbye to her cat Henchi of 17 years. While the pet passed away earlier in the year, the moment will be shown in the Tuesday, July 15 episode, according to Parade.
Thore hosted a touching memorial service for her animal and mentioned Henchi’s love of all things plastic.
“Henchi would love you if you were plastic,” she said in the clip. “Now, one by one, come to the offering plate and deposit your own, unique piece of plastic for Henchi to play with in the ether forevermore.”
Family members came up one by one to give a few words on the late kitty. Thore’s father, Glenn, remembered when Henchi first came into their lives and said he “maybe became the most favorite cat we had ever had.” He brought bubble wrap as it was a favorite of his.
Thore held up a photo of when Henchi was just a little kitten, as her dad remembered him. Her brother also spoke about the cat.
“Henchi was orange and he always looked mad even when he was happy,” he said. “Here is a deli container for the afterlife.”
During the service, the group meowed “Amazing Grace” in honor of the pet.
Thorne Had a Touching Social Media Post When Henchi Passed
Thorne detailed her final moments with her cat in a heartfelt Instagram post on January 21, 2025.
“RIP sweet Henchimayne. 10.01.2007—01.21.2025. I came home today after three weeks away and spent just a few hours with my sweetest boy when he suddenly became ill,” she began.
She added, “He died in my arms an hour ago. He was the most faithful companion to me for the last 17 years and every day I was so overcome with love and affection for him as if it were the first day I ever knew him.”
The TLC star also added a series of images with Henchi throughout the years.
“From the day I got him from a little pet shop in Korea he has brought me nothing but so much joy. I love you, Henchi,” she concluded.
