“My Big Fat Fabulous Life” star Whitney Thore has long been open about her desire to one day become a mother.
The TLC star’s journey will be followed on the latest season of the popular television show. Thore decided that she no longer wants to wait for motherhood and plans on making it happen on her own timeline.
In Season 13, Thore will document the ups and downs as she uses artificial insemination to hopefully make her dreams come true.
Thore Picks a Sperm Donor
The 40-year-old detailed what criteria she has for her perfect sperm donor in the premiere of the new season. Alongside her friends, she browsed through a sperm database.
“Okay filter by personal preferences. Okay, hair color,” Thore commented as she went through a checklist.
In a cutaway scene, she shared what she was looking for.
“My criteria for a donor, I feel like, is pretty straightforward and simple,” she continued. “I absolutely do not care what color this child is, what color the eyes are, the hair is. Obviously, I want the person to be healthy with no genetic diseases.”
In the July 8 episode of the ever-popular show, Thore was seen with her friends as she received a womb wash right before attempting to become pregnant.
Thore told the cameras in a confessional how everything was now feeling very real.
“It was all fun and games when Ashley walked in with a rubber turtle, but now things are getting really real,” she said. “It was one thing to have my eggs frozen, and this is another. This is actually the most intentional act that I’ve ever done to try and get pregnant in my life, and it feels weird that I’m doing it alone.”
After a few minutes, Thore got her device and told the cameras, “All right. I think I’m ready to get pregnant.”
While viewers do not yet know the outcome of her attempt, clips for future episodes show the star waiting for the results of a pregnancy test.
Thore Has Previously Opened Up About Wanting to Be a Mother
Thore has been incredibly open about her struggle with polycystic ovarian syndrome.
In a prior season, Thore previously thought she was pregnant, as she had a few positive pregnancy tests.
It turned out to be a false positive with her doctors saying it was most likely caused by PCOS, according to PEOPLE.
She spoke with the outlet in February 2017 and detailed how it felt like a loss even though she was never pregant.
“I started thinking that maybe this was meant to be, because I’ve always been worried that I wouldn’t be able to get pregnant. So that’s what made it all the more traumatic,” she bravely told PEOPLE.
