Welcome to Plathville: Will Olivia Plath Be a Part of Season 7?

“Welcome to Plathville” is gearing up for its seventh season, and with cast shakeups and major life changes on the horizon, many fans are wondering: Will Olivia Plath return?

Since premiering on TLC in 2019, “Welcome to Plathville” has evolved from a show about strict conservative family values to one centered on evolving relationships within the Plath family. With season 7 set to debut on July 22, viewers can expect plenty of drama—but whether Olivia will be part of it remains uncertain.

Olivia Plath’s Future on ‘Welcome to Plathville’ Is Unclear

While TLC has announced the season 7 premiere date, Olivia was notably absent from the network’s synopsis of the new season. Olivia and Ethan Plath, who married in 2018, finalized their divorce after a tumultuous split documented in seasons 5 and 6.

Season 6 showed Ethan struggling to sign the divorce papers, while Olivia made it clear she was ready to move on. Much of Olivia’s storyline last season was disconnected from the rest of the Plath family, with whom she has a strained relationship.

In recent months, Olivia has been vocal about her desire to distance herself from the show. On Instagram, she revealed that she wants to be released from her contract with TLC. She also alleged that some of Ethan’s behavior during filming—behavior she characterized as abusive—had been edited out of the show.

During a March 2025 Instagram post, Olivia described one alarming moment that was not shown on “Welcome to Plathville”: “What was cut out and didn’t make it was him looking me in the eye and saying very low, very calm, ‘Be very careful what you say,’ to which I said, ‘Peace out. I’m not OK being verbally threatened,’” she wrote. Olivia also claimed Ethan had slammed a chair into a bar during the same argument.

As of now, Ethan has not publicly addressed Olivia’s allegations. Given their breakup and her desire to move forward, Olivia’s participation in season 7—if any—is likely to be limited.

New Relationships and Family Dynamics Drive Season 7

While Olivia’s future on the series remains in question, season 7 of “Welcome to Plathville” promises to focus on other evolving storylines. One of the biggest developments is that Ethan has a new girlfriend, whom he hard-launched on Instagram to ring in the new year.

This relationship is expected to be featured on the show. Fans are already curious to see how Ethan’s new partner fits in with the Plath family—especially given the challenges Olivia faced in gaining their acceptance. Ethan’s traditional views on relationships and gender roles could also present obstacles for his new girlfriend.

Elsewhere in the family, viewers will continue to follow siblings Micah Plath, Moriah Plath, Lydia Plath, and others as they navigate life beyond their conservative upbringing. The divorce of family patriarchs Kim Plath and Barry Plath also remains a key focus, as they adjust to co-parenting and changing family dynamics.
