Kate Gosselin has addressed questions about her relationship with her daughter Hannah, revealing that the two maintain regular contact despite living arrangements that have kept them apart since 2018.
The 50-year-old mother of eight shared insight into their connection during a TikTok video posted on Thursday, August 14, where she mentioned Hannah’s recent help with setting up an Amazon storefront featuring products Kate had discussed on her platform.
Mother-Daughter Bond Remains Strong
Kate’s mention of Hannah surprised some followers, given that the 21-year-old chose to live with her father, Jon Gosselin, in 2018 after her brother Collin also moved in with their dad. However, Kate was quick to clarify the nature of their ongoing relationship when questioned by viewers.
“Hannah just called me and helped me get an Amazon list together of all the things that I have mentioned and people keep asking me for,” Kate shared in her TikTok video. “I’m really excited, because I was asking her for help. She’s really good.”
When one user commented that they “didn’t even know Hannah still spoke to you,” Kate responded directly: “Yep! Always has! Don’t believe what you hear out there, constantly being shoved down your throat.”
This update shows a different side of the family situation that has been subject to public speculation over the years. Hannah is one of the sextuplets Kate shares with ex-husband Jon, along with brothers Collin, Joel, and Aaden, and sisters Alexis and Leah. The former couple also has 24-year-old twins Mady and Cara.
The family’s custody arrangement changed significantly after Kate and Jon’s divorce, with Kate initially receiving full custody of all eight children. However, Hannah decided to join her brother Collin at their father’s home, creating a split household situation that has continued for several years.
Family Connections Across Different Households
Recently, Hannah has been sharing glimpses of her independent adult life through social media. She posted a photo on August 17 from a summer vacation to Cabo, Mexico, where she showcased her style in a pink swimsuit and cowboy hat.
In May, Hannah spoke with Teen Vogue about her family’s experiences, offering her perspective on growing up in the public eye. “Filming made my siblings and I closer to each other, even though it made my parents further from each other,” she shared. While acknowledging the challenges of having their family drama known worldwide, Hannah expressed appreciation for how the experience ultimately strengthened sibling bonds.
Kate has also been open about navigating empty nest syndrome as her children have grown up and moved on to college and independent living. In a separate TikTok post, she shared her experience when her twins first left for college, admitting she “unhealthily pretended for the first, probably three months, that they were just upstairs sleeping.”
The mother of eight reflected on the adjustment process, explaining how she learned to cope with her children’s increasing independence. “In all of this empty nest stuff, don’t forget what our goal is as a parent … to prepare our kids to be functional, productive members of society,” she said. “So when they go to college, it’s a good thing. They’re growing up and it’s the next step.”
