Jed and Katey Duggar Are Expanding Faster Than Jim Bob and Michelle Ever Did

When it comes to big families, the Duggars have long been the gold standard. But Jed Duggar and his wife Katey Duggar are already on track to outpace even Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s famously large brood. With four kids under the age of four—including newborn twins—the young couple has reached a major milestone faster than Jed’s parents ever did.

Jed and Katey Duggar Are on Pace to Beat Jim Bob and Michelle

The couple reflected on the rapid growth during an appearance on The Jinger & Jeremy Podcast. “We’ve known each other five years,” Katey shared. “So when we look at it like that, we’re like, ‘Wow, this has been crazy.’”

Jeremy Vuolo didn’t hesitate to ask the obvious: “So you guys are four in four years—are you going to keep going?”

Jed responded, “We’re just praying about that,” while Katey added they’re currently taking a “sabbatical” from growing the family. “We would love to just enjoy the kids we have right now for a good minute,” she said. “It’s an insanely busy season, the little years—especially because we have two infants right now. It’s just all hands on deck at all times, 24/7.”

Still, they admitted they “both have a number in mind.” Katey revealed, “We’d love to have five or six kids.”

As noted by TV Insider, Jim Bob and Michelle’s fourth child, Jill Duggar, wasn’t born until their eldest, Josh Duggar, was three years old. Jed and Katey? Their four little ones—Truett, 3, Nora, 2, and twins Elsie and Emma, 5 months—are all under the age of four.

The Couple Also Opened Up About Those Chick-fil-A Rumors

Parenting four kids under four isn’t easy, and Jed and Katey are the first to admit it—especially now that they’ve entered the world of twins. “When you have twins, you’re both doing the same thing at the same time,” Katey explained. “It’s not like, ‘I’ll change them this time, you change them next time.’ No, we’re both changing them at the same time.”

The couple also opened up about naming their oldest, Truett. Some fans speculated it was a tribute to Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy—but that wasn’t the case.

“We love Chick-fil-A,” Jed joked, “but that’s not why we named him that.” Katey clarified, “The meaning of the name is ‘warrior for Christ,’ and his middle name, Oliver, means ‘peace.’ That’s a solid name, and he’s a solid kid.”

Their fast-growing family may be a handful, but they wouldn’t have it any other way. As Jed wrote in his 2021 wedding tribute: “The thought of sharing the rest of my life with you makes me the happiest man in the world.”
