Grammy winner Michael Bublé hopes to pull off another win on season 27 of “The Voice” as his three remaining team members compete on the live shows beginning May 12, 2025. But even as Bublé helps them get ready to compete, he has also found time to help season 26 winner Sofronio Vasquez launch his music career.
Late on May 7, Vasquez shared two Instagram posts showing he’d just reunited in Los Angeles with his former coach, captioning their joyful selfies by writing, “had a very productive lunch with the man himself @michaelbuble. we skipped dessert because we are on diet LOL 😂”
In a second Instagram post, Vasquez shared a funny video they took before their lunch, when Bublé pretended he had forgotten his wallet until Vasquez pointed out he could see it in his back pocket. Both posts thrilled fans, who are so relieved to see Vasquez still receiving encouragement and direction from his coach.
Sofronio Vasquez Says Michael Bublé Assured Him He’d Help Him Thrive After ‘The Voice’
Fans were thrilled to see that Bublé has continued his relationship with Vasquez, who became the show’s first Filipino champion in mid-December. Originally from the Philippines, 32-year-old Vasquez moved to the U.S. to pursue a music career and attend school in Utica, New York, per the Los Angeles Times.
One person wrote on Vasquez’s selfie post, “You’re starting to look alike!😂 twinning!”
Another chimed in, “I love how you have genuine beautiful friendship on and off the show! What a true blessing you are to each other!!! ❤️❤️❤️
As the winner of season 26, Vasquez won a recording contract and $100,000 prize, according to American Songwriter. But just as valuable, Vasquez acknowledged, was receiving continued mentorship from Bublé, whom he said told him, “You’re going to be working your ass off, and I’m going to be with you.”
Sofronio Vasquez is Working on New Music With Michael Bublé
Vasquez hit the ground running after his December win, booking concerts in the U.S. and in the Philippines, where he’s become a bit of a hero.
He told WKTV in Utica that Bublé has been instrumental in his success since the show, sharing that the Grammy winner “managed to pull in people that he worked with before—like writers, musical producers. And some of the songs that he has written have not been recorded, or he’s written new songs just for me.”
Bublé has also made it possible for Vasquez to perform for and with major celebrities, including Microsoft founder Bill Gates in March, when he attended prolific producer David Foster’s birthday party for his wife, Katharine McPhee.
On June 14, he’ll perform a concert in Utica with several of his peers from “The Voice” joining him onstage, including his runner-up Shye and another finalist, Sydney Sterlace, per WKTV. Vasquez hopes to have an album out soon, too, with help from Bublé’s team.
