When Snoop Dogg took the stage at the 2025 BET Awards to accept the Ultimate Icon Award on June 9, 2025, the rapper, entrepreneur, and coach of “The Voice” brought his wife onstage with him.
Snoop, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., has been married to Shante Broadus since June 1997, per People, and said during his acceptance speech that he wanted to highlight how much her support has allowed him to have the career he’s had.
“To my family, thank you for riding with me through the highs and the lows — more highs than lows — especially to my beautiful wife, Shante,” Snoop said, and his wife smiled and applauded, before he explained how much her support has meant to him.

As Broadus stood a step behind her husband during his acceptance speech, with a coat draped over her arm, Snoop continued to share his gratitude for her.
He said, “You see, this is why I’m so rock solid, right? This is why I’m able to deal with all of the things that I’m able to deal with. I got God in my life and I got a queen in my life, right?”
The crowd cheered and applauded as Broaddus beamed and clapped, before Snoop continued, “No matter what she held me down. She held me down, she’s been there for me, she’s always been my everything.”
“So that’s why she’s on stage with me tonight,” the icon said. “That’s why she’s in my life and I want to say to those out there that do have somebody special in your life, don’t be afraid put them on the front page. Let the world see what you got.”
The couple, both 53, met while attending Long Beach’s Polytechnic High School, according to NBC. Although they separated in 2004, they never got divorced, and they renewed their vows in 2008.

EntertainmentNow/GettySnoop and Broaddus showed up on the BET Awards red carpet in coordinated, royal blue outfits. Snoop wore a sweatshirt, trousers and matching sneakers with a long jacket. Broadus wore a blue leather blazer, a fedora — which she wore onstage — and wide-leg pants. According to People, she also carried an Hermès bag.
In addition to taking photos together, they posed with “Outer Banks” star Jonathan Daviss. Earlier in the day, it was announced that the actor will play Snoop Dogg in an upcoming biopic from Universal.
