Before “The Voice” season 27 crowns a winner, it’ll host a bit of a family reunion with coaches past and present, including the first time Adam Levine and Blake Shelton have been on the set together since Levine performed on Shelton’s final show in 2023.
On May 9, 2025, NBC announced that the star-studded live finale on May 20 will include performances by Foreigner, James Bay with Sheryl Crow, Joe Jonas, and season 22 winner Bryce Leatherwood, whose debut album will be released on May 16. Four beloved coaches from past seasons, including Shelton, will also return to “The Voice” stage.
Season 27 Finale Will Likely Mark Blake Shelton’s Last Time Appearing on ‘The Voice’ For the Foreseeable Future

The season 27 finale on May 20 begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time as host Carson Daly leads a one-hour recap of the top 8’s performances from the previous night.
At 9 p.m. Eastern time, he’ll kick off the one-hour live finale which will include the aforementioned celebrity performances, as well as duets between season 27’s finalists and their coaches — John Legend, Adam Levine, Kelsea Ballerini, and Michael Bublé.
Four past coaches — Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, Chance The Rapper, and Alicia Keys — will revisit their old stomping grounds to promote and perform new music. According to a press release from NBC, here’s what to expect:
- Shelton, who coached for 23 seasons from 2011 to 2023, will sing his new single “Texas,” which recently became his 30th number one country song
- Clarkson, who coached on seasons 14 through 21 as well as season 23, will perform her new single, “Where Have You Been,” which she released on May 2.
- Chance, who coached on seasons 23 and 25, will perform “Space and Time” from his new project, “Star Line.”
- Keys, who coached on seasons 11, 12, and 14, will appear with Amanda Reid from the Broadway musical “Hell’s Kitchen,” with the TV debut of “The River/ “Empire State of Mind.”
Shelton’s performance may be the last time he’s able to promote his music on “The Voice,” given that he’s spearheading a competitor to the show with CBS’ “The Road,” premiering in the fall of 2025.
Current ‘The Voice’ Coaches Will Also Perform Their Own Music on Upcoming Episodes

Fans of the current coaches on season 27 will also get a chance to hear most of them perform their own music before the May 20 finale.
During the one-hour live broadcast on May 13, per NBC, Ballerini will perform her hit single “Baggage” and and Legend will perform his song “So High.” On May 19, in between the top 8’s live performances, Bublé will perform “Always on My Mind.”
NBC did not mention whether Levine or his band, Maroon 5, has plans to perform. It’s also not clear if he or any of the other current coaches will return for season 28. The only coach confirmed for the fall 2025 season is Snoop Dogg, whose made his debut as a coach in season 26.
