Nick Jonas Says His Family Became Stronger After His Dad’s Diagnosis
Kevin Jonas Sr. was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2017 and has been in remission since 2018. Nick shared how their family became stronger after leaning on one another during the trying time.
In a July 2025 interview with People, Nick explained, “[The] more emotionally challenging periods really test your endurance.”
The singer continued, “But [our dad] was just such a champion and so brave through our whole process. It [was] with such thoughtfulness that I think it helped all of us a lot and provided us with the encouragement we needed when in fact we were just trying to support him.”
Nick added, “Everyone has their own experience too in life’s challenging moments and I’m so grateful that we have gotten to the other side of that and become closer as a family and stronger.”
Jonas Brothers Release ‘I Can’t Lose’
The Jonas Brothers teamed up with Mastercard in support of Stand Up to Cancer. Joe Jonas shared how the campaign speaks to them personally.
“So cancer affects everyone in our life and so we’re lucky to be a part of this campaign to make sure that we raise more awareness for people and bring joy to them in a different capacity,” he explained.
Joe added, “We’ve been lucky enough to meet some incredible fans over the years and this partnership with Mastercard really has been wonderful for us to spend some time with some of our fans who’ve been affected by cancer.”
He noted, “It was really nice to spend time and get to know them a bit more and hear their stories and just to be a part of their journey in some capacity or a distraction musically to help them through a little bit of what they’re going through.”
Nick, Joe, and Kevin released the song and music video for “I Can’t Lose” on July 15. The description for the Jonas Brothers video notes it’s “a song about love, strength, and showing up for the people you love” and is “dedicated to all of those who Stand Up To Cancer.”
On July 16, the Jonas Brothers took to Instagram to promote the new song, sharing in the caption: “It’s the newest single from our upcoming album ‘Greetings From Your Hometown.’ This song hits deep for us, we hope it carries on different meanings for everyone who hears it, and for those who need it, a reminder of their own strength. A big thank you to the fans, we can’t lose when we’re with you.”
