Why Morgan Wallen Is Saying ‘No Thanks’ to the Grammys

Country superstar Morgan Wallen is saying “thanks, but no thanks” to being considered for a Grammy Award.

The season six contestant on “The Voice” has decided not to submit his smash hit “I’m the Problem” album for consideration for a 2026 Grammy, according to Billboard.

The outlet reports that its sources say the decision was “a measured no thank you” to The Recording Academy of the United States.

Despite the fact that “I’m the Problem” remains on Billboard 200 chart for its 11 non-consecutive week, Wallen and his team say they won’t submit the album or any of its 37 songs for Grammy consideration.

And that’s not all. Billboard says Morgan Wallen’s team won’t put the “Wasted on You” singer forward for other categories like best country solo performance either. But the team isn’t discouraging other songwriters who contributed to the album from making their own submissions.

Morgan Wallen Has Faced Grammy Disappointment In the Past

Morgan Wallen has historically been snubbed by the Recording Academy throughout his decade-long career.

That’s despite breaking multiple records on the charts, including ones held by superstars Garth Brooks and Taylor Swift.

His latest album, “I’m the Problem,” had 36 of the 37 songs on it on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the same time at the end of May.

That not only set a record, the record it broke was ALSO Wallen’s!

Despite all of that, the only Grammy nominations Morgan has gotten have been for his work on Post Malone’s “F1 Trillion” album, according to Billboard.

Their duet, “I Had Some Help,” was nominated for best country duo/group performance and best country song at the awards last February.

Wallen has never received a nomination for any of his solo albums. He also wasn’t nominated for Best New Artist during his stratospheric rise to fame.

CMAs and ACMs Show Morgan Wallen More Love

By contrast, the Academy of Country Music Awards (ACMs) and the Country Music Association Awards (CMAs) have shown Morgan Wallen more love.

Both the ACMs and the CMAs disqualified Wallen from eligibility for one year in 2021. That’s when he was caught on video using a racial slur. But they have now lifted that ban.

And since then, Morgan has been nominated for 20 ACM Awards and 13 CMA Awards.

Of those, he’s won the biggie, CMA Entertainer of the Year in 2024. He’s also won three ACM Awards. Those include Album of the Year for “Dangerous: The Double Album” and the ACM Milestone Award in 2022. He took home ACM Male Artist of the Year in 2023.
