Ahead of the season 26 finale of “The Voice,” two finalists took some time to talk about their connections with their coach. Sofronio Vasquez and Shye are both on Michael Bublé’s team, and they are both a part of the final five contestants. They credit Bublé for his generosity and support and they had lots of positive things to say about him.
“He’s very there to hold your hand,” Shye shared.
Vasquez noted, “He is very very genuine. He loves us.”
Sofronio Vasquez Gets Emotional About Michael Bublé’s Support
Bublé’s final two team members talked to People on December 2 about their experiences with their mentor on “The Voice” this season. This is Bublé’s first season on the show as a mentor, and it seems he’s struck the right note with his team.
Vasquez shared, “Michael as a coach and as a mentor is so genuine and that makes me feel that I am home even if I am super super far away from home.”
He continued, “He’s making sure that I am home with him.”
As “The Voice” viewers know, Vasquez moved to the United States from the Philippines to follow his dreams of building a career in the music industry.
During the December 2 episode of “The Voice,” Bublé shared heartfelt words with Vasquez after his performance.
“I think if people understood the strength that you have and the fact that through all of this adversity, you walk out here on a night like tonight, when it probably matters more than anything has in your whole life career-wise. You walk out here in the moment and you take the brass ring and I’m just so happy for you,” Bublé told Vasquez.
Vasquez told People he didn’t want to seem “too emotional” and he held back tears as he talked about what Bublé’s words meant to him. “What he said earlier was bullseye with me,” he acknowledged.
Shye Called Bublé a ‘Fantastic’ Coach
Bublé’s care for his team goes beyond his post-performance accolades. Vasquez noted that Bublé also checked in with him before the December 2 live show to see if he needed anything and felt prepared.
Shye shared similar sentiments. “I feel like he communicates with us the most and he aids us the most,” compared to the other coaches on “The Voice” this season.
In addition, Shye noted, Bublé has been “so personable” and “fantastic” as a coach this season.
For his part, Bublé has been pleasantly surprised by his experience this season. He admitted to People he “never knew I’d like a job so much.”
As he rallied for contestants to join his team early on in season 26, Bublé noted he promised to be there for his artists and feels he’s done that.
“My artists Shye and Sofronio have worked their butts off,” he told People.
He continued, “They deserve it, they are incredibly talented and I think they’re stars in the making, with or without this show.”
As NBC noted, Shye and Vasquez will join Danny Joseph from Team Reba (McEntire), Jeremy Beloate from Team Snoop, and Sydney Sterlace from Team Gwen (Stefani) in the two-night season 26 “The Voice” finale on December 9 and 10.
