Jelly Roll’s Wife Manifests Engagement for Country Music Superstar Lainey Wilson

Country music superstar Lainey Wilson ended 2024 joking she might have to be the one to propose to her long-time boyfriend, former NFL quarterback Devlin “Duck” Hodges.

Apparently, Hodges took the hint.

On February 12, Wilson announced on Instagram that the couple had gotten engaged. The moment was captured by several photos, including one showing Wilson with her face in her hands, appearing to be overwhelmed by it all.

Wilson may need to give Bunnie Xo, Jelly Roll’s wife, a little bit of credit for the engagement.

In a December 30 video posted to Instagram by Country Music Television (CMT) to promote “New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash,” Bunnie Xo and Wilson were discussing the beginning of a new year, prompting the following conversation:

“I’m manifesting for you and Duck to get married,” Bunnie Xo said. “I’m putting it in the air. Duck! You better come with it, baby.”

“No pressure, brother,” Wilson responded.

“No pressure,” Bunnie Xo agreed.

“I might have to propose to him,” Wilson said. “We waiting.”

“No, Duck’s gonna do it, I could feel it,” Bunnie Xo said.

“I like that,” Wilson said.

Fans Commented on Wilson’s Engagement: ‘He Gave a Rock to a Rolling Stone’

Wilson, who NBC reported was a playoff advisor for Reba McEntire‘s team on “The Voice” in November 2024, captioned the announcement post “4x4xU forever,” a nod to her hit song that, according to Billboard, currently sits in the Top 10 of its Country Airplay chart.

Along with the photos, the post ended with a video of Wilson strutting down the steps, hat pulled down, before looking into the camera with a clearly emotional face and showing off her impressive engagement ring.

Many of Wilson’s Instagram followers quickly responded to the news, with one saying, “He gave a rock to a rolling stone, and the rolling stone let her heart free! Congrats to both! 💍🥰” Another comment stated, “😍😍😍😍 congratulations!! We have our best bell bottoms ready!”

Country music superstar Lainey Wilson and former NFL quarterback Devlin “Duck” Hodges, shown attending the 2024 Country Music Television Awards on April 7, 2024, announced their engagement on February 12, 2025.

While Wilson’s relationship with Hodges only became public in May 2023, People Magazine reported that the two had begun dating in early 2021, with Wilson explaining that she needed to make sure that Hodges was “in it for the right reasons.”

“Turns out, he is,” Wilson said in the interview.

A May 2024 article in Life & Style Weekly provided some background information on Hodges. After playing quarterback at Samford University in Alabama, he was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2019 by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He later signed with the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League in September 2021 but retired from professional football in April 2022.
