Kelsea Ballerini Stops Mid-Song During Concert to Silence Haters

Kelsea Ballerini may sing about her ex-husband, but she’s not going to tolerate concertgoers who shout out negative comments about him. “The Voice” coach called out fans during a February concert, telling them it was time to move on.

Kelsea Ballerini Shuts Down Fans Cussing Out Her Ex-Husband

During her February 23 concert at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida, Ballerini performed the song “Penthouse.”

After singing one line, fans in the crowd dropped an f-bomb about her ex-husband, Morgan Evans.

Ballerini shut down the rudeness and explained that it’s time to move on. She went through a public divorce from Evans in 2022 and, while the “Penthouse” lyrics reference the breakup, she’s not looking for people to pile on the hate.

In a TikTok video taken at the concert, the crowd is heard singing along to the bridge: “It hurts putting [expletive] in a box / And now we don’t talk / And it stings rolling up the welcome mat / Knowing you got half.”

Some people could be heard yelling “[Expletive] you, Morgan!” when she paused between the end of the bridge and the next verse.

Ballerini stopped to clear something up — she would like fans to stop with the crude commentary.

“Guys, we have to stop saying that,” Ballerini said after shaking her head. “Seriously, we’re three years past it.”

She added, “Everything’s fine now.”

Ballerini said she still performs the song because it’s a fan favorite, not to slam her ex. “I sing this song for you now. It’s not about me anymore,” she said. “Please. Please.”

“The Voice” coach asked, “For everyone that’s moving forward with their life, will you sing this with me?”

Fans Support Kelsea Ballerini’s Request

Fans sounded off in the comments section of the TikTok video, voicing their support of Ballerini’s request for people to stop cussing about her ex during the song.

“For everyone who doesn’t know — people say ‘[Expletive] you Morgan’ during the pause,” one person explained. “She has asked multiple times for people to stop. She is healed and wants to move on.”

Another person noted, “I didn’t know that was a thing! I didn’t hear it. I’m happy she put an end to it.”

Others shared supportive words, including, “I love that she called them out. THAT’S healing” and “So proud for her. That album was therapy.”

Another fan pointed out, “People forget that was her husband … for multiple years. You can still respect someone even though you got a divorce and she’s doing exactly that.”
