Source Says Kelly Clarkson Was Forced to Postpone Vegas Shows

According to a July 2025 People report, a source told the outlet that Clarkson “didn’t want to cancel any shows.”

“She was devastated and felt terrible for fans that had traveled to see her,” the source explained. “She’s been very excited about the Las Vegas residency and connecting with her fans.”

The singer was set to kick off the “Studio Sessions” residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on July 4. She released a statement just hours before the performance that the evening’s concert and the July 5 show were canceled.

The source added that Clarkson’s vocal strain “came on quickly” after “long rehearsing sessions,” and ultimately required her to postpone her shows.

“Even as a seasoned singer, she pushes herself too hard. Vegas is very dry too and it seemed this was an issue as well for the vocal health,” the source noted. “She was pretty much forced to [in order to] prevent long-term damage.”

Clarkson will perform the first show of her residency on Friday, July 11, with the source sharing, “She’s ready to kick things off this weekend.”

Kelly Clarkson Explained She Was Devastated About Canceling Shows

On July 4, Clarkson took to Instagram to share the bad news with her fans.

“We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans. I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars,” Clarkson explained.

She continued, “The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve. The show is truly incredible. The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong.”

The “American Idol” alum added, “I can’t wait to be back next weekend and show y’all what we’ve been working on.”
