Singer John Legend admits he and wife Chrissy Teigen regularly embarrass their kids, and he’s not sorry about it!
In the February 17 episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” the singer tells Clarkson that his two oldest children are entertainers like their parents.
Luna, 8, and Miles, 6, are “are taking vocal lessons” he says. Legend also says daughter Luna is “in musical theater at school.” And of course the proud parents show up for every performance and recital.
“What kind of parent are you when you go to their performances, are you, like, the embarrassing one?” Clarkson asks the Voice coach.
46-year-old Legend admits, “Yeah, we, like, embarrass her. You know, Chrissy is going to make some noise and I make some noise and she’s like, ‘Dad, Mom!’” But Luna’s protests are ignored for the best reasons. “They need support. We’re supporting them,” he says.
Singing is a Family Affair for John Legend and Chrissy Teigen
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen got married in 2013. The pair share four children, daughters Luna, 8 and Esti, 2, and sons Miles, 6 and 20-month-old Wren.
39-year-old Teigen regularly posts pictures of the four children’s antics on her Instagram account.
Life at Home Inspires Legend’s Children’s Album
Legend says the pair constantly sing made-up lullabies to their children. In fact, he says that’s what inspired him to release his album of children’s music, “My Favorite Dream” in 2024.
Legend told Clarkson, “Our songs are silly … like, Chrissy makes up songs, I make up songs. And my dad used to do that to us all the time. He would sing a bedtime song … just to motivate us. But this time I really wanted to formalize it and make real songs that I could record for my kids and for everybody else’s kids.”
In fact, when Legend dropped the album, his post about it was also a family affair, featuring tons of fun pictures with the kids.
Legend captioned the post, “This album has been a true labor of love. It’s completely inspired by my wife and our babies, the family tree we’re all a part of and are continuing to grow. I want our babies AND yours to find joy and inspiration and comfort from this music. I hope it helps them fall in love with music and helps them cope with all the worries and challenges they may have. I hope the spirit of LOVE at the center of the album is contagious and palpable. And, when it’s time, I hope it helps them FALL ASLEEP (please!) and dream all their favorite dreams.”
