Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have a favorite Christmas dish, according to NBC.
According to NBC, it’s a “baked Italian dish” that the married couple has turned into a “family holiday tradition.”
Over the years, NBC notes, Stefani and Shelton, who have both worked as “Voice” coaches, shared additional details of the dish, which is called a “Timpano Dome.”
“Gwen’s family, there’s a lot of Italian blood in her family,” Shelton told US Weekly. “And so there’s tons of pastas and there’s a reason that I have a chin like a stork the last five years. It’s because I’m hanging out with the Stefanis now.”
Gwen Stefani Called the Tradition ‘Almost Like a Lasagna’

Stefani described the dish to KOST 103.5, and she said it’s called a “Timpano Dome.”
“When Blake came into the picture, we tried – I started doing Christmas, and we tried and we did this thing called a Timpano Dome,” Stefani told KOST 103.5. “And it’s basically almost like a lasagna, but it’s baked inside of a dough.”
She said her family makes it with pizza dough, not pasta dough. One year, it was a “disaster,” she said. “Last year we cheated.” She said the couple was going to make the dish “by scratch,” and that it might include meatballs.
In 2023, Stefani told Entertainment Tonight that she and Shelton decided to try “something new” and they stumbled on the Timpano Dome dish. “We started doing that a few years ago and now that’s the thing,” she said, adding, “We do it together.”

Many sites have recipes for a “Timpano Dome.”
One is Comfortable Food, which describes it as a dish “made famous in the movie ‘Big Night.'” The dish is “basically a meaty pasta bake wrapped and baked in a large pizza dough,” that site reports.
The filling in that recipe includes meatballs and penne pasta.
Food.com calls the dish a “Timpano Di Maccheroni (The Mythic Pasta Dome).” The Timpano Dome “takes its name from a large drum,” according to Food.com.
That site’s version includes prosciutto and bechamel sauce, as well as rigatoni.
Healthy World Cuisine calls the “Timpano Italian Pasta Dome” an “outrageously delicious Italian pasta dish filled with layers of homemade meatballs, sausage, pasta, cheeses and marinara sauce wrapped up in a delicious butter crust.”
“The Timpano Italian Pasta Dome is an EPIC meal. This recipe is not for the faint of heart and there is no way it can be made in 30 minutes or less. However, it will be a meal that will be talked about for ages to come. One bite and you will be hooked,” that site explains.
