Reshuffling and shake-ups of judges are relatively common on “The Voice.” Even so, it can still be disappointing when someone decides to leave the show, whether it’s a longtime face like Blake Shelton or someone we wish would stick around longer, like Kelsea Ballerini.
So obviously, the news that LeAnn Rimes was leaving “The Voice UK” after a mere season left many viewers distraught. Fortunately, fans don’t have to feel sad for long. The news that former “X Factor” judge and Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland is taking her spot should leave many overjoyed.
Grammy-Winning Singer Kelly Rowland Joins Season 14
Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am, Tom Fletcher, and Danny Jones will be joined for Season 14 by none other than superstar Kelly Rowland. Along with her “X Factor” experience, she’s also appeared on “The X Factor UK” and “The Voice Australia” as a judge.
Along with her time working on reality TV music competitions, she has a plethora of real-world music business experience. Apart from being a member of the Grammy-winning Destiny’s Child with Beyoncé and Michelle Williams, she’s also an incredibly successful solo singer. She’s sold over 40 million records and won a Grammy award for “Dilemma,” a single on which Nelly collaborated.
“I am excited to join The Voice UK as a coach, and am looking forward to working with the excellent and passionate coaches the show is known for,” Rowland said in an ITV press release. “I can’t wait to hear all the new talent and to go to battle for my team. Let’s go!”
Fans Are Excited to See Rowland Join ‘The Voice UK’
Rowland’s fans immediately took to “The Voice UK’s” Instagram page to commend her hiring. “Kelly was a fantastic coach on the voice Australia,” a fan wrote. “She would really do incredibly well as a coach in the voice UK.”
“LOVE Kelly,” another commented. “Fantastic choice! Her coaching on AU was awesome.”
Rowland has a fantastic track record behind her concerning her previous judging roles. She joined “X Factor” in 2013. Her contestant, Jeff Gutt, finished in second place to Alex & Sierra in the Over 25s category. While on “X Factor UK” for Season 8, she created the girl group Little Mix. Not only did they win the show, but they also went on to become a worldwide success.
She joined “The Voice Australia” for Season 6 in 2017 and stayed for four seasons. She won Season 7 when her contestant, Sam Perry, took the crown, and Season 9, when Chris Sebastian became the winner.
