Carson Daly’s Daughter Hilariously Describes His Job: ‘I Wish!’

For three decades, Carson Daly has been a fixture in broadcasting, becoming one of America’s most beloved TV hosts, from MTV’s “TRL” in the early 2000s to NBC’s “The Voice” since 2011. But none of that seems very impressive to Daly’s five-year-old daughter, Goldie, who thinks he “just talks” all day.

On June 15, 2025, Daly shared a social media post with a a pre-kindergarten class project made for Father’s Day by Goldie, the youngest of four kids he shares with wife Siri.

Explaining her dad’s work, Goldie adorably wrote, “He works at the ‘Today Show’ and just talks. He is also on ‘The Voice.’ He’s a judge and holds a microphone and talks.” In the caption, Daly quipped in response, “I wish I was a ‘judge!’ On the Voice! 😂🤑”

In addition to describing her famous dad’s work life, little Goldie also gave some funny insights into her his home life, including notes on his wardrobe — “gray shorts and black t-shirts” on “nice days,” but “colder days” call for “black sweatshirts and pants with boots.” She added, “He also likes hats and has a big bunch of hats.”

Among his favorite pastimes, Goldie said her dad “really likes to go on the motorcycle and drive around the block” and that he also “likes to eat steak and go to the Steak House where they have steak, French fries, pasta, and spaghetti.”

Daly clearly got a kick out of Goldie’s hilarious profile of him, writing, “Gonna miss these Father’s Day kid projects from pre-K! 😂🥩🍺⛳️”

Friends and fans loved her take, too, flooding Daly’s post with comments, including one who wrote, “Carson, this is priceless!! As a retired teacher, I remember those projects!!!! Happy Father’s Day to the Best Talker on TV!!!!”

Another chimed in, “Omg I can’t believe she is old enough to articulate this and “just talks” 🤣🤣🤣 Kids are so funny!! Hope you have a fantastic father’s day with your beautiful, sweet family!!❤️❤️”

“Carson’s job is Talk,” another quipped, while another wrote, “Carson- you ARE a judge on the Voice. Goldie says so ☺️”

On June 13, Daly and the other dads of “The Today Show” — Craig Melvin, Al Roker, Willie Geist, and Peter Alexander — spent a segment of the morning show hanging out in New York City and comparing notes on fatherhood.

Daly told the group at one point, “I tell my kids, ‘You’re lucky — not only do I love you, I like you a lot, too!'”

But he also acknowledged that juggling being a dad while being on “The Today Show” in New York, where his family lives, and on “The Voice” in Los Angeles, is less than ideal.

“What’s hard, and I know you guys can relate to this, is the work schedule,” he told the other dads. “I’m trying to be home, I wanna be home. I want to be home so bad. And I’m the guy that you see sitting at the gate at 11 p.m., I’m flying home through the night, just to see my kids.”

In Goldie’s description of her dad, she noted, “When Daddy is home, sometimes he puts me to bed. I love my Daddy!”
