Blake Shelton is opening up about one of his biggest regrets in life. The former “The Voice” coach dished on how he regretted one bad tattoo so much, he never got another one.
Blake Shelton Says His Tattoo Is ‘One of the Worst Mistakes of My Life’
In a January interview with CMT, Shelton revealed that he wished he never got his forearm tattoo.
“You know, they say that tattoos are addictive,” he said as he pointed to his ink.
Shelton continued, “I got this tattoo about 20 years ago, and decided it was, in the moment, one of the worst mistakes of my life and I’m never doing that again.”
He added, “And I stuck to that.”
While he didn’t go into detail about his tattoo, Shelton did give a bit of the story behind the ink in a 2013 interview on “Oprah’s Next Chapter.”
When Oprah Winfrey asked the meaning of the tattoo, Shelton answered, “It doesn’t mean crap, Oprah.”
For anyone unsure what the ink is, he explained, “I’m a country guy from Oklahoma and I thought, ‘I’ll get some deer tracks going around my arm.'”
“The Voice” coach Adam Levine asked, “Were you sober for that?”
As it turns out, he wasn’t … and the tattoo design is actually Shelton’s drunken drawing.
“No, and neither was the guy that gave me the tattoo, I don’t think,” the former “The Voice” coach said. “He didn’t know how to make a deer track and I didn’t either.”
The country singer continued, “I drew him one — what I thought it looked like — and he just took that and copied it here. So I actually drew that crap.”
He added, “And then I went and got the barbed wire later to try to distract from the Sugar Smacks or coffee beans that I ended up with.”
Blake Shelton’s Fans Weighed In With Comments About His Tattoo
Many fans commented on the CMT Instagram post, with some wondering what the tattoo represents.
CMT shared, “Deer tracks surrounded by barbed wire … according to the internet 🧐”
One fan commented, “It is a pretty terrible tattoo 😂😂😂,” while others noted that he can get it removed.
Another fan related to the tattoo regret, writing, “Same … same lol 1 and done.”
Shelton’s tattoo was a hit with Gwen Stefani’s kids, however. In a 2017 Twitter post, his now-wife shared a pic of her kids getting in on the tattoo fun. In the photo, her sons held up their arms sporting fake matching tattoos along with Shelton and his deer track ink.
