Ariana Grande has revealed her next major movie role — and it’s one for the books. The Grammy winner and former coach on “The Voice” is set to voice a character in Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s upcoming adaptation of “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”, based on the beloved Dr. Seuss title. Grande announced the news on Instagram on July 15, posting a photo of herself in the recording booth alongside co-star Josh Gad and tagging director Jon M. Chu, who will co-direct the animated film with Jill Culton.
“I love this book, I love this script, I love the beautiful world of @drseuss… I am so thrilled to be a part of this one… it is vvvv special!” Grande wrote in her Instagram story. She also thanked Warner Bros., Gad and Chu for the opportunity.
The film, which is set to hit theaters and IMAX on March 17, 2028, will feature original music by Oscar-winning songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul as confirmed by Warner Bros. on their social media accounts.
Excited fans filled the comments on the official post, with one writing, “ok now THIS is exciting!!!!!” Another added, “oh, the vocals we’ll hear 🎈,” while the official Dr. Seuss account commented, “2028 can’t come soon enough 🎈.”
She’s Not Done Yet: More Ariana Projects Are on the Way
Grande’s latest casting news comes on the heels of her return to acting, a shift she previously discussed in a November interview on the Las Culturistas podcast.
“Reconnecting with this part of myself who started in musical theater and who loves comedy… it heals me to do that,” she said. Despite her growing film résumé, she reassured fans: “I’m always going to make music. I’m always going to go on stage. I’m always going to do pop stuff, I pinky promise.”
In addition to voicing a character in “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”, Grande will reprise her role as Glinda in “Wicked: For Good”, the second part of the two-film Wicked adaptation directed by Chu. She’ll also star in the upcoming “Meet the Parents” sequel, set for release in November 2026, alongside Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller.
Stiller praised Grande’s performance during an interview with Today, saying, “She’s so great with comedy… the character she’s playing, she’s gonna be really, really funny and the whole engine of the new movie.”
All We Know So Far About the Dr. Seuss Movie
“Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” will follow a young adventurer navigating life’s highs and lows in a globetrotting animated musical. It’s based on Dr. Seuss’ final book, originally published in 1990.
The film is being produced by J.J. Abrams and Gregg Taylor under their Bad Robot banner, with a script written by Rob Lieber. Pasek and Paul are writing original songs for the adaptation, marking another high-profile collaboration following their work on “Dear Evan Hansen”, “La La Land”, and Disney’s upcoming live-action “Snow White”, per Variety.
Studio sources describe the movie as a “high priority” for Warner Bros. as part of its Dr. Seuss slate, which also includes “The Cat in the Hat”, slated for 2026. Chu’s “Wicked” recently earned 10 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, while co-director Culton is known for animated hits like “Abominable and Open Season”.
As Grande put it on her Instagram story, “What a dream.”
