On the stage, Adam Levin may sing about “Sugar,” but when coaching youth basketball, he can be anything but sweet.
“The Voice” coach sat down for an interview with “The Jennifer Hudson Show” on February 25, and talked about his life as a father of three kids — Dusty Rose, 9, Gio Grace, 6, and a son, 1. Levin told Hudson he has been coaching his kid’s basketball team, admitting that he often has a difficult time keeping his cool.
“I get mad,” Levine told Hudson. “I almost got booted at the last game.”
“I gotta see you at a game,” responded Hudson, who joined “The Voice” as a coach in Season 15.
“I get heated,” Levin said.
Which belied the cool Dad “swag” that Hudson said the Maroon 5 frontman was giving off.
“You’re such a dad now, Adam,” she said. “I’m proud of you. Straight dad now, like, I see the growth and the … look at you!”
“She’s like, ‘You’re so chill,’” Levine said to the crowd. “I’m like, ‘I got three kids, man, I got to be chill, I got to save my energy.’”
Adam Levine Talks With Jennifer Hudson About Maroon 5’s Las Vegas Residency

Levine will also need energy for Maroon 5’s residency in Las Vegas, with eight shows at Dolby Live in Las Vegas running from March 8 to March 22. It will be the band’s second residency at Dolby Live, following a 16-date stretch in spring of 2023.
“It’s just cool to like put together this kind of really unique experience in Vegas and I’m super looking forward to it,” Levine said. “I can’t wait to do it, so come out check it out.”
Adam Levine Said Maroon 5 Will Release New Music in the Near Future
Levine also told Hudson that Maroon 5 has been working on new music and hope to have an album out in the near future. Levine said the band “scaled it back a little bit,” and he did a lot of the writing on his own, which felt a bit like old times.
“I kind of kept it tighter, and you know, all the melodies, all the lyrics, you know, 90% of the ideas kind of had to be born out of the moment, and it’s just really cool,” he said. “Kind of hearkening back to some of the older stuff yeah, and I’m really, really excited about it. “
In the meantime, Levine is enjoying himself back on “The Voice” for Season 27, his first since leaving the coach’s chair in 2019.
“Getting to take a step back and, you know, spend time with my fam and do that thing, and then stepping back into it when I was really ready and comfortable, it kind of felt like natural timing for everything,” he said. “It’s been super fun. I love these guys I’m working with.”
