Adam Levine Reveals Blake Shelton’s Prank That Cost Him $5,000

Adam Levine and Blake Shelton have a long history of pranking one another, but one of Shelton’s pranks actually cost Levine a pretty penny. “The Voice” coach Levine explains how he was conned into buying a small (and pricey!) pet.

Blake Shelton Tricked Adam Levine Into Buying a Teacup Pig

Levine shared the details of the prank during a July 2025 appearance on “Hot Ones.” According to the Maroon 5 singer, Shelton talked him into buying a special gift for his then-girlfriend, Behati Prinsloo.

“My now-wife, then-brand-new girlfriend, said she really wanted a teacup pig,” he shared. “And I didn’t know what that was, but of course the first person I would ask [was Shelton] … So I asked Blake. I’m like, ‘What’s a teacup pig?'”

Levine continued, “He’s like, ‘I’ll get you a teacup pig. Yeah, give me five grand.'”

The couple only kept the pig for a few weeks before needing to rehome it. “Please don’t get a pig,” Levine warned. “They scream and squeal if you don’t pay attention to them. They scream and squeal if you do.”

“We had to give it to a little girl on a farm,” the singer said. “We’re like, ‘Send us pictures! We can’t wait to not be responsible for this animal anymore! Just show us pictures!'”

Levine added, “She sends us a picture like six months later and the pig is like 400 pounds. I’m like, ‘Dude, what if this animal had grown to be this big in my house?'”

When Levine asked Shelton about the size of the animal, the former “Voice” coach confirmed that they don’t stay “teacup” sized for long.

“And I was like, ‘Blake, bro, $5,000 for a pig that wasn’t a teacup pig?’ And he’s like, ‘You’re an idiot! There’s no such thing as [expletive] teacup pigs, you [expletive]!’ So that was a pretty good prank that he played on me.”

Also, Shelton wasn’t open to giving Levine a refund. “He’s like, ‘No!'” the singer recalled.

Adam Levine Gets Pranked by Kelsea Ballerini on ‘The Voice’

Even though Levine and Shelton weren’t coaches during season 27 of “The Voice,” new coach Kelsea Ballerini had a little fun with the guys’ friendly rivalry.

During one episode, as Levine tried to convince a contestant to join his team, the camera panned to Ballerini, who hit her chair button. Shelton’s voice was heard saying, “Adam’s a big baby.”

Ballerini explained, “I had it for when I really needed some backup and I got it.” She pressed the button again and Shelton was heard saying, “Adam won’t shut up” and “Adam, you say a lot of stupid stuff.”

Levine was a good sport, noting, “You know what that reminds me of? My long pedigreed history here on ‘The Voice.'”
