“The Voice” Season 27 finalists have been revealed, with the two-part finale set for Monday, May 19, and Tuesday, May 20.
Renzo, Lucia Flores-Wiseman, Jadyn Cree, Jaelen Johnston, and Adam David are all vying for that top spot. Each finalist will get the opportunity to perform twice during the finale.
So, here’s everything you need to know about the Top 5 Contestants:
Renzo
Renzo, a 33-year-old singer from Philadelphia, earned a spot in “The Voice” finale, but this isn’t his first time on a reality singing competition. Renzo also competed on “American Idol” in Season 11 and made it to the Top 10.
Ahead of his audition, he opened up about how he lost his father to gun violence when he was 4 years old.
“That was really tough on me growing up. There weren’t really many people for me to like look up to and say, ‘Hey, I want to be like this guy,’” he told producers. “I had a lot of love from my mom, … but sometimes think about, man, who would I have been if I had a dad?”
While music is his true passion, Renzo has a day job teaching science along with having a wife and three daughters.
Renzo joined the competition, singing Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man,” and got John Legend, Michael Bublé, and Adam Levine to turn around. However, Legend ended up blocking Levine, and the move worked as Renzo ultimately picked Team John. Fast-forward to the semi-finals, Renzo wowed with a performance of Aerosmith’s “Dream On,” which earned him a spot in the finale.
Lucia Flores-Wiseman
Lucia Flores-Wiseman, the 22-year-old singer/songwriter from Seattle, Washington, is viewed as a frontrunner to win season 27. On her website, she describes her music as a blend of “Indie, Folk, and Jazz,” and explains that she is influenced by “artists like Brandi Carlile, Amy Winehouse, and Norah Jones.”
While her focus right now is the show, she is also very excited about what comes next.
“The show has really given me lots of opportunities, lots of exposure, and after this I know there are so many opportunities that are going to be coming my way. I’m just really hoping I can stay in Seattle and build a music thing even more,” Flores-Wiseman said in an interview with The Seattle Times. “There are so many great musicians from Seattle, and if I can add my name to the roster, that would be so wonderful.”
Flores-Wiseman began her journey on “The Voice,” singing “La Llorona,” which is a Mexican folk song. All four of the judges turned, but she decided to join Team Adam. In the semi-finals, she sang Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” and earned her spot in the finale.
Jadyn Cree
For Jadyn Cree, her immense talent must be genetic. In Season 25, her father, Bryan Olesen, also earned a spot in the finale and placed third. But now, it’s her turn to compete and try to become the next winner.
Cree is a 23-year-old singer from Lincoln, Nebraska, and has certainly made her mark in the competition in recent weeks.
Cree’s first performance was Paramore’s “Still Into You,” where she got Bublé and Kelsea Ballerini to turn around. And then, in the semi-finals, she performed “I Think We’re Alone Now.”
Jaelen Johnston
Jaelen Johnston is a 22-year-old singer and acoustic guitar player from Derby, Kansas. He details his music journey on his website, having begun at the age of sixteen when his grandparents gave him a guitar. He describes his voice as having “uniquely deep resonance, raw grit, country drawl, and bluesy smoothness.” He also has several original songs that are available on all streaming platforms.
Johnston began his journey by singing Luke Combs’ “Where the Wild Things Are,” which resulted in Bublé, Ballerini, and Levine turning around. He ultimately picked Team Ballerini. Most recently, in the semi-finals, Johnston performed Lee Brice’s “I Drive Your Truck.”
Adam David
Adam David is a 39-year-old singer/songwriter from South Florida, and describes his voice as a “soulful sound,” having been influenced by Ray Charles, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, and Stevie Wonder.
“Adam developed a unique style that seamlessly blends elements of blues, soul, funk, and rock. His smooth yet raspy vocals and impressive guitar skills create a mesmerizing experience for listeners, transporting them to a world of raw emotions and infectious grooves,” his website details. “With his innate ability to connect with his audience and his unwavering dedication to his craft, Adam David is undoubtedly a rising star in the music industry.”
Adam David made an immediate impact, singing Peter Frampton’s “Baby, I Love Your Way” in his blind audition, and Bublé was the only judge to turn around. In the semi-final, David received the instant save despite being among the bottom performers, after singing Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control.”
