Meghan Markle celebrated Father’s Day with a rare glimpse into her private family life. On Sunday, June 15, the Duchess of Sussex shared a heartfelt Instagram video tribute to Prince Harry featuring never-before-seen footage of him with their two children, 6-year-old Prince Archie and 4-year-old Princess Lilibet.
Inside the Sussex Family’s Quiet Life in California
Set to Jason Mraz’s song “Have It All,” the video captures moments of Harry laughing with his kids, following Archie on a bike ride, and holding both children during their younger years. The tribute marked one of Meghan’s most personal posts since returning to social media earlier this year.
“The best,” she wrote in the caption. “Happy Father’s Day to our favorite guy 💕.”
The post quickly drew attention, offering a rare look at the family’s life in Montecito, California, where Harry and Meghan have lived since stepping back from their royal roles in 2020.
Since their royal exit, Harry and Meghan have raised Archie and Lilibet away from the public eye. Both children share their father’s red hair, which Harry has credited to his late mother’s family.
“The Spencer gene is very, very strong,” Harry said during a 2023 appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” He added, “I actually really, genuinely thought at the beginning of my relationship [with Meghan] that should this go the distance and we have kids, that there’s no way the ginger gene will stand up to my wife’s genes, but I was wrong! Go gingers.”
Ongoing Tension
The Father’s Day post also comes amid ongoing tension between Harry and his father, King Charles III. In a BBC interview on May 2, Harry said, “He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff,” referring to his legal battle to reinstate U.K. protection for his family.
“I would love reconciliation with my family,” he continued. “There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has.”
As reported by People, the palace has denied that King Charles has the power to restore the high-level security Harry is seeking. Since moving to the U.S., the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have returned to the U.K. only once with their children, for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
As Meghan continues to use her Instagram handle @meghan to spotlight personal moments and professional projects, the Father’s Day tribute stood out for its emotional tone and family-first focus.
