With a hit Netflix show, a lifestyle brand and a newly announced podcast, Meghan Markle may not have as much time at home these days, but when she does, her plans don’t look that different from the rest of us.
In an interview with “People,” Markle revealed that like most parents of young kids, she and husband Prince Harry like to relax and watch their favorite shows once the little ones go to bed. “We love ‘Shrinking,’ we just finished ‘Black Doves’ and we’re excited for the new season of ‘The White Lotus,'” said the Duchess.
The couple also like to unwind with a cocktail in what she calls “nightcap recaps,” when they fill each other in about their days.
Sussex Saturday Mornings Are Family Time
But when the kids are awake, it’s a different story. In a Substack interview with The Godmothers, Meghan says, “Saturday morning cartoons in bed is also high on my list. In the U.K., they call it a ‘duvet day,’ and I’ve always found that sweet. Our little family, snuggled up for an easy family morning followed by pancakes and bacon. The dream.”
Breakfast with Archie, 5 and Lilibet, 3, is a top priority for the Duchess. Meghan Markle told “People,” “I wake up every morning and take a lot of pride in making breakfast for my family…mornings are fast. Gotta get the kids to school.”
“I’m up before my kids are, so I’m normally up at 6:30, and then I get them up and dressed for the day, and we go downstairs. I love making breakfast for my family,” she explained, adding that their favorite is “surprise” pancakes.
“They don’t know what’s going to be on the other side when it flips over,” says Meghan, who picks from rainbow sprinkles, chocolate chips or blueberries she arranges in the shape of a smiley face.
Then again, Meghan admits, there’s not always time for all that. “My husband and Archie both love fried eggs. There’s a lot of bacon around here. And then sometimes you don’t have time for all that, and you just put a frozen waffle in the toaster and call it a day,” she said. “And there’s no shame in that either.”
Meghan Markle’s ‘With Love, Meghan’ Finds Success on Netflix
Cooking and baking are in the spotlight on Meghan Markle’s lifestyle show “With Love, Meghan,” on Netflix.
This week, the show ranked tenth on Netflix’s global Top 10 Shows Overview list, amassing 2.6 million views and 12.6 million hours watched since its debut.
And there’s more where that came from. In an Instagram post, the Duchess of Sussex writes, “If you’re loving Season 1, just wait until you see the fun we cooked up on Season 2!” The second season is already in the can and expected to debut on Netflix in the fall.
Busy Time Reignites ‘Honeymoon’ Period for Meghan & Harry
If you think all the projects and busyness are hard on the couple, think again. Meghan tells “Peoplze” all of her projects have actually brought the pair back to a “honeymoon period.”
“My husband met me when I had The Tig, and I see this spark in his eye when he sees me doing the thing that I was doing when he first met me,” she told the magazine, referring to her original lifestyle blog that she ran while they were dating and closed down just before their engagement was announced.
“It’s almost like a honeymoon period again, because it’s exactly how it was in the beginning when he’d watch me scribbling away, writing newsletters, fine-tuning edits and just really being in the details of it. I think he loves watching as much as I love doing that creative process. It’s just been fun. This is who I’ve always been.”
