A new royal addition has arrived at Madame Tussauds London. On Wednesday, May 21, the museum unveiled an updated wax figure of Catherine, Princess of Wales, marking a fresh tribute to her evolving role in the monarchy.
This updated figure comes more than a decade after Kate Middleton’s original wax debut at the attraction in April 2012, just a year after her royal wedding to Prince William.
Styled in Pink and Wearing a Historic Tiara
In new photos shared by Madame Tussauds, Kate’s wax figure is dressed in a shimmering dusky pink Jenny Packham gown, replicating her look from the 2023 Diplomatic Reception at Buckingham Palace. The wax figure is dressed in a replica of Kate’s shimmering pink Jenny Packham dress from 2023 and features a replica of the ‘Lover’s Knot’ tiara, previously worn by Princess Diana.
The tiara used on the wax figure comes from the Madame Tussauds London archives and was worn by Princess Diana’s figure in the 1980s. The ensemble includes a Royal Victorian Order blue sash, the Royal Family Order of QEII, and replica Greville Diamond Chandelier earrings to complete the look.
A Royal Update for Prince William’s Figure Too
Kate’s wax figure is displayed next to Prince William’s updated statue. His figure features a black Ede & Ravenscroft tuxedo, a white bow tie, the Order of the Garter sash and star, and army medals.
In a statement opened by People magazine, Steve Blackburn, senior general manager at Madame Tussauds London, said: “We are delighted that a new figure of the much-loved Catherine, Princess of Wales, has officially landed in The Royal Palace Experience at our attraction in the heart of London, continuing our centuries-long work with the royal family. Kate, majestically crafted by our talented studio team, has been sculpted to ensure her resemblance is fit for a future queen, alongside her dashing husband.”
The updated wax figure of the Princess of Wales will be on display to the public beginning Thursday, May 21.
The figure features the historic Lover’s Knot Tiara, a royal heirloom over 100 years old. It was originally commissioned by Queen Mary from the jeweler Garrard in 1913 or 1914. The tiara has become one of Kate’s most frequently worn pieces and was also a favorite of Princess Diana.
The newest wax figure at the museum sparked a wave of reactions on social media. On platforms like Instagram and X, many royal fans highlighted the impressive attention to detail, especially in capturing Kate’s side profile.
