Gwyneth Paltrow Defends Meghan Markle’s As Ever Brand: ‘I Was Raised To See Other Women As Friends, Not Foes’

Everybody’s talking about Meghan Markle following the March 4 premiere of her new lifestyle show “With Love, Meghan” on Netflix, along with the announcement of her As Ever brand. Naturally, many people are comparing the Duchess of Sussex’s latest business ventures to Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow‘s Goop brand, which she launched in 2008.

“I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes,” Paltrow said in an interview with Vanity Fair. “I think there’s always more than enough to go around. Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try.”

She added, “I mean, I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all. Maybe I’ll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie.”

In a 2024 interview with People, Paltrow also called out the comparisons between her Goop brand and Kourtney Kardashian’s Poosh.

“I was so upset when Poosh was launched and people were like, ‘This is a ripoff of Goop,'” Paltrow told People. “I was like, this is so awful, and trying to pit us against one another, which is so crazy.”

“The world is better and stronger when women are in cahoots with one another,” Paltrow continued. “I feel like the patriarchy does this thing to us where they make us feel scarcity and that there’s not enough for all of us to do our thing. And it’s so detrimental.”

Meghan Markle Cheekily Responds To Podcaster Who Said She Was ‘Scared’ For Her

“With Love, Meghan” debuted in Netflix’s Top 10 list in its first week, but some haters trashed before it even aired — prompting “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast host Amanda Hirsch to comment that she was “scared for Meghan.”

Turns, Markle saw her comment and wrote a handwritten note that read, “Dear Amanda, I heard you were feeling scared. Don’t be! This is the fun part — let’s enjoy it,” according to People.

Naturally, Hirsch posted the handwritten note via an Instagram posts, sharing it with her followers. “OH MY DUTCHESS,” Hirsch captioned the photo.

“Like, obviously framing this,” Hirsch wrote in a separate Instagram Story, per People. “Beyond shook. Beyond spiraling. Did I smell the paper? Yes! Do I want my own monogram? Yes. Am I absolutely flabbergasted and obsessed.”

Meghan Markle Is Handling The Criticism Of ‘With Love, Meghan’ Like A Pro

Despite the backlash she’s faced over “With Love, Meghan,” the Duchess is taking it all with stride: “Every day, I’m learning so much as a founder. I’m taking baby steps and big strides at the same time, making mistakes and learning from them, and really working to find all the joy while diving into the creative process and the business,” the mother of two said during an interview at Godmothers bookstore, according to The Daily Beast. “There’s something energizing about being in my 40s and turning my passion project into a business — and sharing that with the world.”
