“The Golden Bachelor” star Theresa Nist is single but not yet ready to mingle again. Nist shared a life update recently about her dating life, and it came on the heels of some significant updates from her now ex-husband, Gerry Turner.
On December 11, Turner shared via People he had been diagnosed with cancer. He also told Fox News on December 12 he was seeing someone new.
Nist shared with People she receives plenty of messages from potential suitors via her social media pages. However, the men she hears from are not exactly her ideal Mr. Right.
She revealed, “I’m just baffled by it and they’ll persist and persist and persist. And I’m talking 33-year-olds!”
Theresa Nist Still Wants to Find a Partner
Nist explained, “I do get approached through Instagram direct messages, but you wouldn’t believe how young these guys are.”
She exclaimed, “They’re so young that they’re younger than my son!”
While Nist would like to find love again, she has not put herself out there to pursue a new relationship yet.
“I definitely do want to be with someone. I do,” she shared.
Nist said she has been asked out on dates. So far, however, she says, she has turned down all the invitations. “I’m more clear on what I want, so I don’t want to waste anyone’s time,” she noted.
“I think life is so much better when you’re with someone, but I know that it’s even hard for young people to find people. Imagine how much harder it gets … I’m 71. That number scares people,” she noted.
‘The Golden Bachelor’ Star Wants Someone Passionate
Turner admitted he was hesitant to say he would ever get married again, and Nist feels similarly. She does know what she wants in a partner though.
“Passion for something you love to do, something that makes you wake up and want to get out of bed in the morning,” Nist explained.
She added, “It’s intelligence. It’s to be able to speak on the same level. And that’s really unique when you start talking to someone, whether or not you do, you’re understanding each other at your core.”
Nist admitted she is not opposed to dating younger men. However, she noted, she would likely consider someone only a decade or so younger than her.
“Too young, we are just not culturally the same, we didn’t experience the same things growing up,” she pointed out.
