Sean Lowe Gives Health Update After Dog Attack

On April 15, Sean Lowe gave fans an important update after he was attacked by a rescue dog his family had adopted a few months earlier.

He posted a video on his Instagram story, with his son Isaiah by his side.

“Hey everybody, we are back,” Lowe said (via Us Weekly). “I haven’t been on instagram since the whole dog thing but I wanted to pop on here and tell everyone, thank you so much. I mean we got thousands and thousands of messages … people wishing me well and sharing similar stories. But anyway thank you, thank you, because I could tell it was just sincere and heartfelt.”

“I’m healing, my scars aren’t as bad as I thought they would be,” he added. “Isaiah likes to kiss this one here. The doctor told me that one is about as good as it’s going to get, it’s kind of red. It won’t be red forever but I’ll have a cool scar there forever.”

Sean Lowe Opened Up About the Attack on March 18

“The Bachelor” alum revealed what had happened in a lengthy Instagram video on March 18, where he was joined by his wife, Catherine Giudici.

The incident occurred on Thursday, March 13, while Giudici was out with the couple’s three kids and Lowe was at home with his friends hosting a barbecue.

The smoke from the grill outside caused the smoke detectors in the house to go off. Lowe went inside and grabbed a dish rag to get the smoke away from the detectors, but while he was doing that, the family’s boxer, Moose got triggered by the noise and became aggressive. He first nipped at Lowe’s finger, and then he started biting at his feet and poking holes in his shoes. After that, Lowe said that Moose showed his teeth and fully attacked him.

He was eventually able to get the dog outside, but Moose came right back in and attacked him for a second time.

“I’m not trying to be dramatic, but I honestly felt like I was fighting for my life,” Lowe said in the video. “We’ve only had him for a little over three months, but he’s my dog. I walk him. If I run errands, he goes in the truck with me. If I get out of my chair, my kids don’t like it because he follows me and not them. Like it’s my dog. All he’s ever wanted was affection.”

Lowe got him outside for a second time, and his friends immediately shut the door. His friends took him to the hospital while calling Giudici to tell her what happened.

After he returned, Lowe began to look for somewhere to rehome Mooe, not wanting to put his family at risk, but also makng sure the dog was cared for. As this was happening, Lowe’s parents came to the house to pick up the kids and he was helping them get into the car. But, Moose got out from the backyard and ran to the front where Lowe was.

“He made a beeline to me and just lunged and started attacking me again,” Lowe explained. “The kids did see Moose attack me but then a neighbor came out and quickly ushered them into their house so they didn’t see it.”

Lowe had to wrestle the dog to the ground and lie on top of him for 10 minutes until the police arrived. The father of three then went back to the emergency room.
