On February 15, Katie Thurston posted on Instagram, telling her fans that she’s been diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, she has been very open about everything, keeping her followers up to date about all her appointments and the changes she has had to make.
With that, the former “The Bachelorette” lead has also been open about the financial burden. And many fans have reached out, wanting to help her in any way they can.
On February 26, Thurston posted a photo of herself surrounded by flowers with an update and a very sweet message.
“I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for the outpouring of love and support I’ve received. Many of you have reached out suggesting a GoFundMe to support me personally. While I’m touched by this kindness, my intention in sharing my story has never been to fundraise for myself. I want to use this space to shed light on the challenges many cancer fighters face – physically, emotionally, and financially,” Thurston wrote on her Instagram story.
“If my story moves you to give, I encourage you to direct that generosity towards cancer nonprofits that provide critical support, research, and assistance to those in need. These organizations make a real difference in the lives of countless individuals who may not have the resources or support they deserve.”

When Thurston first went public with her diagnosis, Bachelor Nation was quick to short their support. And that included many other former leads from “The Bachelorette.”

Katie Thurston’s Fiancée Jeff Arcuri Canceled Tour Dates
Following Thurston’s diagnosis, comedian Jeff Arcuri announced on Instagram that he was postponing his shows to be by his fiancée’s side.
“This is an incredibly challenging time for both of us, and as she embarks on this difficult journey, I’ve made the decision to be by her side every step of the way,” Arcuri wrote. “To my fans in New Zealand, Australia, and Japan: I regret to inform you that my upcoming shows will be rescheduled. You will receive an email with all the details soon. I am so sorry I can’t be there as planned, but I hope you understand that my family will always come first.”
