“Survivor” 48 Star Heads to Jury, Talks About Drama Not Seen on TV

Survivor” is a high stakes game of competition, trust and betrayal.

Under such a pressure cooker, contestants may find themselves on the wrong end of an argument. Fans often hear of favorable or unfavorable edits. Many even try to decode who the season’s winner is ahead of time based on how they’re portrayed.

“Survivor” 46’s Liz Wilcox saw the mother with a strict diet lose all sense of self as she berated the winner of a food challenge – something she had not won during her entire time on the island.

“Survivor” 41 cast member Shantel Smith wasn’t a fan of who she was portrayed to be on screen.

“Survivor” 48 isn’t without its criticism either as a newly minted jury member has something to say about what viewers missed during the latest episode.

Chicago Strong

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Chrissy Sarnowsky spoke her mind about the events that led to her being voted off the show.

“I thought I had a bigger handle on the game than I think I actually did. I’m watching these kids — I call ’em kids because I’m a lot older — and wow,” Sarnowsky said. “They really were strategic. And as I watch and think back, I’m like, I definitely was not as strategic as some of them.”

Sarnowsky was voted out during an episode where she said her castmates weren’t playing the game as hard as she was.

She was asked about how she felt after tribal council, Sarnowsky thought her gameplay could’ve been handled better.

“Apparently when I go to tribal council, I just have diarrhea of the mouth,” she said. “I can’t help it. I don’t know what it is. Everybody else is really good at skirting around and I’m just like, Everything’s got to come out. But yeah, I had a feeling it was me.”

Even still, she knew things were not looking good for her so she decided to double down.

“If I’m going out, then I’m throwing names out there and trying to raise some awareness of what’s going on,” she added.

Inside the Survivor

Sarnowsky’s post-analysis of her game is a healthy take on how she performed. But what viewers didn’t get to see was an altercation that may affect how one contestant is portrayed.

“David was literally yelling at me. I remember turning around going, ‘Who are you yelling at?’ I apparently got him so upset,” she says. She goes on to note after the fact that she would’ve changed her entire approach to that evening’s tribal if she’d known David and Kamilla’s alliance.

When asked how emotionally difficult some of the “Survivor” experience could be, Sarnowsky refers back to season 47’s Andy Rueda. Notably, on day two, Rueda complained that nobody liked him.

“And now I get out there, and on night one I was freaking myself out. I was like, ‘Nobody likes me. I’m not making these connections. This is awful,’ she tells EW. “And the next day Kamilla came up to me and said, ‘Hey, what do you think about me, you, Kyle and David?’ So even though later on we didn’t, having a strong Civa four did help me mentally to get through the rest of the game. So I thank her for that.”
