After appearing on “Survivor,” plenty of the show’s castaways have tried their hand at other reality competition series like “The Amazing Race,” “House of Villains” and “Big Brother.” That being said, there’s one Emmy-winning reality competition series that no “Survivor” alum has ever faced: “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
Or, at least, that was the case, until “Survivor: Fans vs. Favorites” winner Parvati Shallow took to the stage at New York City nightclub on Tuesday, July 8 hand-in-hand with “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star Jan Sport for a never-before-seen reality TV crossover performance.
Shallow Dons Full Boston Rob Drag During NYC Performance
Shallow, who has appeared on “Survivor” four times in the past (“Cook Islands,” “Micronesia: Fans vs. Favorites,” “Heroes vs. Villains” and “Winners at War”), has similarly celebrated iconic runs on reality programs like “The Traitors” and “Deal or No Deal Island.” She was joined on all three series by Rob “Boston Rob” Mariano – widely considered to be one of the greatest “Survivor” players of all time.

Dressed as her iconic reality counterpart – complete with Boston Rob’s trademark basketball shorts, tank top and Red Sox baseball cap – Shallow joined the “Drag Race” alum on stage at NYC’s 3 Dollar Bill nightclub for its “Survivor” vs. “Traitors” Drag Show.
Jan, who appeared on both “Drag Race” Season 12 and the sixth iteration of its “All Stars” spinoff, sported a recreation of Parvati’s classic “Survivor” get-up, complete with a yellow swimsuit, an orange buff and Shallow’s signature dark locks. Together, Jan-as-Shallow and Shallow-as-Boston Rob presented a lip sync performance to a re-recorded version of Lady Gaga’s “A Star is Born” chart-topper “Shallow.”
In addition to offering her vocal talents, Jan similarly re-wrote some of the song’s lyrics to reflect Shallow’s “Survivor” experience, such as changing the line “and in the bad times, I fear myself” to “and in the bad times, I fear Jeff Probst,” referencing the show’s longtime host.
Shallow’s performance was celebrated by the nightclub’s crowd, which reportedly held “Survivor” alums like Ethan Zohn, Andy Rueda, Ben Katzman, Brandon Donlon, Teeny Chirichillo, Mitch Guerra, Kellie Nalbandian and Stephanie Berger in attendance.
Shallow is in the Middle of a Major Reality TV Resurgence
The drag performance comes amongst a slew of interview appearances for Shallow, who recently promoted the July 8 release of her debut memoir “Nice Girls Don’t Win: How I Burned It All Down to Claim My Power.”

Now available for purchase, “Nice Girls Don’t Win” explores not only Shallow’s “Survivor” legacy – including breakdowns of some of her greatest plays and biggest blunders – it also delves further into her troubled past, including her childhood spent living on a “cult-like” Hindu commune.
Shallow will similarly appear on “Australian Survivor: Australia vs. The World” later this year alongside fan favorite castaways like Cirie Fields and Tony Vlachos. Notably absent from the “Survivor 50” cast, Shallow previously ruled out another appearance on U.S. “Survivor,” but admitted that she couldn’t stay away after the Australian offer landed on her desk.
“When ‘Australian Survivor’ reach out, the stars kind of aligned for me to do that,” revealed Shallow during an appearance on the Drop Your Buffs podcast. “‘Australian Survivor’ is very similar to the style of game I’ve played in the past, where they kind of keep it, sort of, pure. Social strategy, grit and endurance. Those who suffer well and make alliances and know how to play that style of game are gonna thrive.”
The premiere date for “Australia vs. The World” currently remains unannounced, but stay tuned for further updates on the international season, and on upcoming seasons closer to home.
