When “Survivor Season 50” starts filming later this year, you could be there in person to catch all the action! And you could bring your own tribe along for the ride!
“Survivor” host Jeff Probst has announced a contest that will bring one “Survivor” superfan and his or her “tribe” to Fiji to watch epic Season 50 unfold.
Calling All Ultimate “Survivor” Fans
In an Instagram post, Jeff Probst asks fans to record a video explaining what “Survivor” means to them and how it has impacted their lives. One of those videos will score the winner a trip to Fiji, to watch filming of season 50.
And he or she won’t be flying solo. In the post, Probst says, “Do you have the ultimate ‘Survivor’ tribe? Could be a group of friends, could be your actual family.” The winning fan will be taking that tribe along on the ultimate “Survivor” adventure.
“Survivor” Specifics: How to Enter to Win a Trip to Fiji
To enter the contest, go to this website and upload your video. The website lists five tips to increase your chances of winning. They are:
1. Keep videos under one minute
2. Be the only person in your video
3. Inspire us with your Survivor passion
4. Try to get your full upper body in the shot, and especially your head
5. Try not to have any images/art/posters in the background
Season 50 of “Survivor” Announces Major Plot Twist
Whoever wins the contest will get an inside peek at a “Survivor” season like no other.
Probst just announced that fans will set the course for the milestone season, which is subtitled “In the Hands of the Fans.” In a previous Instagram post, Probst says “Breaking news Survivor fans! Season 50 is in your hands. That’s right, you heard me. We are turning the game over to you. Throughout the airing of season 48, we’re going to be opening votes for you to determine key elements that will shape season 50 for our returning players, before they even get out to Fiji. So if you wanna know when these votes will drop, you gotta be watching season 48. The good news is, it’s a very good season!”
CBS says fans will get to vote on twists, advantages, and other “key elements” in the show like “Idols or No Idols,” or “Final Four Fire Making: Keep It or Lose It.”
Even the structure of the season finale is up for grabs. Viewers will choose between “Live Finale and Reunion Show in L.A. – or Keep the Winner Reveal and After Show in the Jungles of Fiji.” In other words, fans will decide if the conclusion of the season happens months after the competition has ended, off-island, like it did from Seasons 2 through 40, or if the show will keep all the action on-island, as it has from season 41 to now.
“Survivor” Specifics : How to Vote
Here’s how you can play a part in season 50 of “Survivor.”
When “Survivor” season 48 premieres at 9:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, February 26, the show will feature times when fans can visit this website (survivor50cbs.votenow.tv) to vote on four different elements of the show and how they’ll play out in Season 50. Subsequent shows will offer viewers more chances to weigh in on what happens in the milestone season.
One thing fans will not get a vote on: who will compete in the epic season. Probst and his team are busily combing through all past castaways to figure out who should be invited to return.
At a special VIP advance screening of the premiere of “Survivor 48,” host Jeff Probst said, “This is what we’re trying to do, because we want to satisfy you. We want a cast that represents all types of players, spanning all the eras. An array of people who have slept bled this ever-changing game design for the last 25 years. Because, really, “Survivor 50″ is a representation of everyone who has ever played and the fans who’ve been with us for the entire time. So that’s what we’re endeavoring to do. So you can see how difficult it would be to get it down to a handful of men and a handful of women, very difficult. We hope we get it right. Just know we’re we’re we’re trying. That’s what we’re intending to do.”
How to Watch the Premiere of “Survivor” Season 48
You can catch the two-hour season premiere of “Survivor” Wednesday, February 26 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. Fan voting on elements for season 50 will begin in the very first episode of the season.
The contest to win a trip to Fiji for season 50 is open now.
