Before “Survivor,” He Was a “House Hunter”

Current “Survivor” cast member Shauhin Davari has been around the reality sphere for much longer than viewers have ascertained.

Not only is he on the 48th season of the long running competition series, he’s also made an appearance on a popular HGTV show.

Then there’s the matter of his previous newsmaking relationship.

Craven, The House Hunter

While making appearances on multiple reality shows is not out of the norm, it is odd when people show up on shows that aren’t in the same category where they first appeared.

Case in point, Davari was once filmed picking out a new home. Now, he’s being shown competing in challenges.

The debate professor, public speaker and social chemist previously made an appearance on HGTV’s “House Hunters.” Specifically, the seventh episode of the 187th season.

Girl Gone

Davari, who was previously an alternate for the 46th season of “Survivor,” also had a pretty notable relationship.

It wasn’t with a celebrity; it was with Sherri Papini, the woman who made national news for faking her kidnapping.

In 2016, the mother of two went missing for three weeks before being found on the side of the road. She claimed she was abducted by two masked Hispanic women. After several years of investigation, authorities found that Papini was staying with an ex-boyfriend for the 22 days that she was gone. She told that boyfriend that her husband was abusing her.

Her ultimate goal was to collect money from the California Victim Compensation Board – an organization that provides compensation for victims of violent crimes. Papini would be convicted of mail fraud and making false statements.

Davari said he’s not surprised about any of this.

“She’s a compulsive liar. She would not talk to you for three or four days, and then all of a sudden there’d be some fantastical story about what happened,” Davari told “Inside Edition.”

He also mentioned how Papini would lie about being able to do activities like s surfing while lacking the knowledge or equipment to do so. She also spoke about a heart condition that didn’t exist.

“She was faking a heart condition at one point,” Davari said in the interview. “A bunch of people figured out that that was not true.”

The reason Davari gave the interview is because he didn’t want to be labeled as the ex-boyfriend that harbored Papini.
