Mark Hamill Shares Rare Birthday Photos of His Daughter: ‘For My Favorite’

Mark Hamill may be a Jedi Master to millions of “Star Wars” fans around the world, but at home, he’s just “Dad!” Throughout the years, he’s made it quite known that he wears the title proudly. Over the weekend, the 73-year-old actor celebrated his daughter Chelsea’s 37th birthday with a heartfelt Instagram tribute. It was one that included rare family photos and an unexpected bonus. One of those bonus photos? Proof that she has her own action figure! How cool is that?

“For my favorite daughter who has her own Action-Figure: 🎂 ❤️ 🫶, Pops 😘,” Hamill captioned the carousel of pics on July 27. Among the throwbacks? Childhood snapshots, event appearances, and a photo of Chelsea’s character Koo Millham from “The Last Jedi.” A literal action figure, ladies and gentlemen! This family sure loves sharing birthday tributes online, and we love it!

Safe to say that fans couldn’t get enough of the images, commenting how the Force ran in their blood. “That is awesome. How does one get to be an action figure.” one user commented. Another wrote, “Only Mark Hamill could raise someone who turned being an action figure into a family tradition.”

Legendary, indeed.

The Force Is Strong in the Hamill Household

Hamill and his wife, Marilou York, have been married since 1978. The couple went on to have three children, Nathan (46), Griffin (42), and Chelsea (37). Despite Hamill’s global fame as Luke Skywalker, his family has kept a relatively low profile over the years. Of course, until moments like this, when fans can get a sweet look behind the curtain.

Each of Hamill’s children has carved their own creative path. Nathan, the eldest, is a visual artist and comic creator who’s also a musician in the band Vacuum. His work ranges from cute to amazingly wild. Adding one more title to the “Star Wars” legend, he’s also dad to Hamill’s 8-year-old granddaughter, Autumn, whom the actor affectionately spoils “with candy before dinner,” as he joked on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

Griffin, the middle child, is a painter and martial arts instructor based in Santa Monica. He also had a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it “Star Wars” cameo as Salaka Kuchimba in “The Last Jedi.” His dad once described him as “a gifted painter, animal-lover, loving son and a true friend.”

And then there’s Chelsea, the birthday girl. She works as her father’s assistant and has joined him on red carpets, including the 2017 European premiere of “The Last Jedi.” In interviews, she’s emphasized how much she treasures spending time with her family. This is especially so as they’ve bonded through their shared love of the “Star Wars” universe and the legacy that comes with it. Because, well, who wouldn’t love Luke Skywalker as a dad?

A Grandpa, a Jedi, & a Proud Dad

These days, Hamill isn’t just basking in his cinematic legacy. He’s savoring being a grandpa, too. “Everything you’ve heard about being a grandparent is true, and I love it,” he told Colbert, before cheekily adding, “More, please!”

He shared a photo from “Easter Sunday at Stately HAMSTER MANOR” (yes, that’s what he calls his home) featuring the whole crew. We have a wife, kids, granddaughter, and a trio of dogs. Classic Hamill, sentimental, silly, and fiercely proud of his family.

And while the rest of the world knows him as Luke Skywalker, the Hamill kids just know him as Dad. Though, admittedly, one with a very impressive action figure collection.

So yes, the Force is strong in this family. But even stronger? The love.
