‘Star Trek’ Actor Wants a New Series Spin-Off

Paul Wesley has been a part of the Star Trek universe since 2022, when he took on the role of James Kirk in “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.” The series is currently airing Season 3, and will last for five seasons in total. There is speculation that Wesley will potentially star in a “Year One” series spinoff. This is a topic that TV Insider asked him about in an interview published on July 28.

Paul Wesley Shares His Thoughts on Expanding His Role With Star Trek

“It’s not up to me, but I have expressed my desire, probably all too often, to the showrunners and whomever else asks,” he told TV Insider. “I would love nothing more than to do a Kirk series along with our beloved characters in TOS and introduce the characters that we have yet to introduce in TOS, Chekov and Sulu, and, I mean, you name it. And I think it would be fantastic.”

There are many other details to be worked out with producers and executives. Still, one clear thing is that Wesley would be on board to develop this character. He has made no secret of his enthusiasm, telling the publication that he feels there is a lot more to be done. His exact words on the subject were: “But speaking as a little kid who wants to play in a series, I think there’s so much room to explore. And I think you can go into the TOS sort of time. You can explore time between episodes, you can explore time before the first episode.”

He added, “There’s just so much story to be mined here. And I would love nothing more than to play in that series.”
