Naomi Osaka’s New Travel Series Shows What Athletes Really Do When They’re Not Competing

Tennis pro Naomi Osaka is hitting the road for a new travel series.

Being on tour in tennis is sometimes a grueling slog (not to mention the heat). Players have to participate in countless tournaments just to rank. Even when they make it, they’re still dealing with going to mostly exotic places in order to keep their rank. And that’s just tennis.

Osaka is using her years of travel expertise in a new show dedicated to teaching viewers about the cultural lives of all touring athletes.

Love, Traveling

Produced by UltraBoom Media – from producers of “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” and
“Down to Earth with Zac Efron” – “Off Day” will follow athletes on the days they’re not playing their respective sports.

The trailer to the series asks the simple question up top: “What do your favorite athletes do on their off day?”

LeBron James’s UNITERRUPTED and Osaka’s Hana Kuma also produce.

Deuces

The first episode features Osaka going to Tokyo to explore all the good eateries as well as reconnect with old friends.

Other featured stars will include “MLB all-star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. touring Toronto, NBA star Alperen Sengun in Istanbul and Aryna Sabalenka, currently the No. 1 ranked tennis player in the world, in New York City.”

This is just the start for the “Off Day” brand. Producers want to produce shows for other media personalities including comedians with “Off Mic;” musicians with “Off Stage;” actors with “Off Script;” and chefs with “Off Menu.”

All episodes of “Off Day” will air on YouTube every other week.
