The 2025 ESPYs are sure to have plenty of laughs with comedian Shane Gillis hosting one of sports’ best nights at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
Plus, the show has tons of incredible presenters lined up, along with many star athletes set to attend.
Here’s more about Gillis and the presenters who will take the stage on Wednesday, July 16.
Shane Gillis Reveals Why He Wanted To Host The ESPYs
It’s been a good sports year for Gillis, who got to see Notre Dame football compete in the National Championship (where they lost to Ohio State). The Pennsylvania native also got to watch the Philadelphia Eagles defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX and has been cheering along as the Philadelphia Phillies sit in first place in the National League East.
“If I have any control over it, that’d be great. If I can pick the highlights, it will just be Eagles, Notre Dame, also some Phillies,” Gillis joked in an interview with The Athletic. “That would be nice.”
Plus, getting the opportunity to host the ESPYs allows him to follow in the footsteps of another comedian.
“The reason I wanted to take it on was Norm Macdonald,” he said. “He’s the best ever, and he did it, and his monologue was one of my favorites.
