“General Hospital” may have found a new Michael Corinthos, and he’s a familiar face in the soap world.
In late 2024, Chad Duell announced that he was leaving Port Charles after playing the role of Michael for nearly 15 years. By January, he had officially exited the show, with his character written off as going to Germany for treatment after being severely burned in an explosion.
Then on Tuesday, fans were intrigued by a mystery man onboard a plane who was watching Drew and Willow on the Nurses Ball red carpet. All clues seemingly point to Michael finally coming home.
‘General Hospital’ Recasts Michael Corinthos
According to Soaps.com, “General Hospital” finally recasts Michael, and it’s none other than Rory Gibson. The outlet claimed that “The Young and the Restless” alum was tapped to replace Duell.
It’s worth noting, however, that the show has yet to officially confirm or deny this. Fans will have to keep tuning in to see if Gibson will indeed take over the role.
In November 2024, Duell announced that he’s leaving “General Hospital.” In an Instagram post, the actor thanked everyone who has been supportive of him and his character. He wrote:
After many incredible years with General Hospital, I’ve decided to step away from the show. This wasn’t an easy decision for me, but it feels like the right time in my life. I’m beyond grateful to Frank Valentini, the cast, crew, and everyone behind the scenes who have been like family to me throughout this amazing journey.
Who Is Rory Gibson?
Rory Gibson was born on November 21, 1995, in Long Beach, California. Avid soap fans may know him as Noah Newman on the long-running CBS soap, “The Young and the Restless.”
Gibson took over the role from Robert Adamson in 2021. In 2022, the actor was dropped from contract to recurring status amid the show’s reported budget cuts.
At the time, his onscreen partner, Kelsey Wang (Allie Nguyen) was also bumped to recurring status. The last time Noah was seen on “The Young and the Restless” was in April 2023, when he left Genoa City and moved to London.
With rumors swirling that Gibson may be the new Michael, many “General Hospital” fans are eager to see his take on the iconic character. Given the actor’s past projects, he’s unlikely to disappoint.
Aside from “The Young and the Restless,” Gibson starred in several productions, including “Fugitive From Asteron,” “How Jessica Died,” “Severed Road,” “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire,” “Twisted Twin,” “Grace,” and “A Night to Regret.”
