“General Hospital” fans were handed a beautiful series of scenes last week, when Sasha Gilmore (played by Sofia Mattsson) left Port Charles for good to protect baby Daisy. Jason accompanied her on a private international flight straight to the doorstep of her father, Robert Scorpio, played by Tristan Rogers, who hadn’t been seen on-camera since November 2024.
As Sasha found safety with Robert, Sofia and Tristan’s scenes marked the end of her seven-year run on the popular series. Tristan was confirmed to have filmed just two days for “General Hospital” before exiting again. The actor also confirmed his cancer diagnosis with Deadline, leading viewers to wonder if he will ever return, or if Robert Scorpio has been given his version of a happily ever after.
Robert Scorpio Joined the Love of His Life in Paris

In November 2024, Robert Scorpio decided that he had forgiven Holly of all the horrible things that she had done over the decades, including hiding their daughter Sasha’s existence from him. Holly had to leave Port Charles after crossing Sidwell, and Jack Brennan had provided her with a private jet to a secret destination where she would be safe.
Robert decided at the last minute that he couldn’t imagine losing the love of his life again, and so he decided to join her. He got to Holly just in time, and the on-screen duo was given a beautiful sendoff from the sudser.
It felt like the perfect farewell, with many fans questioning whether or not that would be the end of their story. In November 2024, GH producer Frank Valentini told Soap Opera Digest that plans were in place to bring the duo back to Port Charles together in 2025. At this point, that plan has stalled.
Will We See Robert Scorpio Again?

On July 17, 2025, a rep for Tristan Rogers spoke with Deadline to confirm the actor’s current battle with cancer.
“While he remains hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan, this is a challenging time for Tristan and his family. As they face both the emotional and physical burdens that come with this diagnosis, the family kindly asks for privacy and understanding. They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and love from their friends and family.”
The rep continued, saying, “Tristan sends his love to his fans and wants them to know how much he appreciates their loyalty and encouragement over the years. This support means more to him now than ever. Future updates will be shared if deemed appropriate by Tristan and his family.”
GH fans hope that Rogers will be able to return to the role that has defined his career, but his frailty in those last scenes makes it seem pretty uncertain. One thing is sure: if Rogers’ acting days must remain behind him, then “General Hospital” gave his beloved character the most beautiful closure possible.
