‘General Hospital’ Recap for July 1: Who Survives?

What an emotional day in Port Charles. Everyone was still on the high of baby Daisy’s christening when disaster and calamity struck. Sidwell had a firebomb set off at Charlie’s that left Kristina’s life hanging in the balance. Natalia was passed out in her hotel room after washing down pills with liquor, and Michael and Sasha had a serious conversation about his recovery.

Natalia Isn’t Leaving Town

ABC

After tipping off ADA Turner to the fact that Natalia is about to leave town, Chase then heads to the Metro Court to see if she is still in her hotel room. Chase finally lets himself and the rest of the PCPD team in only to find her passed out on the couch. The team stays behind and sweeps her room because no one is sure what happened.

Natalia arrives at General Hospital after paramedics spent six minutes trying to revive her. Both Isaiah and Elizabeth work on her until the time of death is finally called. Liz calls Lucas, who arrives at the hospital. He explains that he can’t get in touch with Marco, who was supposed to be on his way to check on Natalia. Lucas explains that Marco saw something along the way and had to stop, but he hasn’t heard from him since.

Sidwell Tries to Play it Cool With Alexis After Bombing the Pub

ABC

Sidwell is outside on a balcony looking towards Port Charles, and he can see that Charlie’s is on fire. He makes a call confirming that the job has been done, so it’s clear that he’s behind this firebombing. Alexis arrives almost immediately, and Sidwell has a hard time focusing on the business that she wants to discuss. He thinks that she is giving Marco, her employee, a hard time because he is her son, but Alexis insists that she needs to ensure her new hires are doing things correctly.

He goes along with her extra scrutiny until Molly calls Alexis and tells her that the pub is on fire and Kristina was inside. Alexis leaves in a hurry, and once gone, Sidwell makes another call. He is furious because his men were supposed to ensure that no one was inside Charlie’s. He warns them that there will be hell to pay if anything happens to Sonny’s daughter.

Marco Pulls Kristina From the Fire at Charlie’s

ABC

Marco is driving to check on Natalia when he sees the fire raging at Charlie’s. There is a car in the parking lot, so he stops, kicks in the door, and sees Kristina behind the bar. He goes in with a blanket, and the two of them make it out with smoke inhalation and minor burns. Dante is already on the scene of the three-alarm fire and has paramedics administering oxygen to the victims when Sonny and Jason both arrive.

Cody has agreed to drive Molly to Charlie’s, and on the way, she is panicking over her sister. She keeps fearing the worst and is in tears as Cody tries to calm her down. Once on the scene, Molly is relieved to see that Kristina is outside and alive.

Dante asks Kristina and Marco what happened, but Sonny doesn’t trust Marco’s responses. He doesn’t trust Sidwell or Sidwell’s son. Alexis arrives and tears into Sonny, telling him that all of their children are at risk because of him, and she refuses to have to bury another child.

Tragedy Connects Several People

ABC

Carly arrives home to find Jack and Josslyn in her kitchen. She still has no clue that he recruited her daughter as a WSB agent, so she thinks he is waiting for her. She tells him about the fire and how it took her right back to Michael being caught in the firebombing at Sonny’s. Jack tells her that it’s PTSD and he understands completely.

Michael is also suffering flashbacks from that same fire. He is in tears when he finds out that Kristina is okay. He feared that she would have to undergo some of the excruciating treatment that he had when burned. Michael opens up to Sasha about how he isn’t fully healed yet, and may have nerve damage forever. He tells her that he is grateful for Sonny being his father, but that he won’t be like him. His children will never be in danger because of him.

Marco finally arrives at General Hospital and realizes that something has happened to his mother. He pushes past everyone and finds her dead in her hospital room.
