If you are a fan of “General Hospital,” then you already know all about Drew Cain, played quite brilliantly by Cameron Mathison. He is hated even more than the clear-cut mobsters on the long-running daytime series, and that is largely due to the great job the actor is doing.
“General Hospital” has turned the former good guy into a villain in just a few short years. Drew’s manipulative, dirty-handed antics have nearly everyone in Port Charles gunning for him, except Willow. According to Parade, speculation is circulating about Cameron Mathison’s potential departure from the role.
Everyone in Port Charles Wants Drew Gone

Port Charles is a small town located in upstate New York, featuring a diverse cast of characters who rarely agree on much of anything. The fact that everyone wants Drew gone at the exact same moment in time speaks to how awful he actually is. Tracy is fighting hard to prevent Drew from successfully claiming the Quartermaine name as his own, and Nina cannot fathom the grasp that Drew has on her daughter, Willow’s, heart.
Michael refuses to allow his children to see their mother as long as she remains with Drew. He knows that Drew used their young son, Wiley, to try to manipulate custody, and he wants the congressman to disappear. Sonny and the rest of Michael’s family have all gone rounds with Drew as well.
Then there is the fact that he is blackmailing Portia, leaving her husband, Curtis, to use his media to do some of Drew’s bidding. Just about every bad situation in town has Drew’s fingerprints all over it. So many characters on General Hospital have recently said that Drew needs to be taken out for his horrible actions.
Is a Murder Mystery on the Way?
In the land of soap operas, the more people start mentioning the wishful demise of another, the more likely it is to happen. Since everyone is after Drew, it has led to questions about his future on “General Hospital.”
Neither ABC nor Mathison has indicated that the character is being written out of the show. Mathison’s plate is full, as he also appears in Great American Family movies and hosts the game show “Beat the Bridge.”
It certainly seems like the writers are laying the groundwork for a whodunit murder mystery, and with July sweeps coming up soon, it may be the perfect time for Drew to finally get what he deserves!
