Here is a full recap for the Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025, episode of “Days of Our Lives.”
Secrets Surround the Merger Between Titan and DiMera

Today’s episode of Days begins with Gabi dropping by Steve’s office. She tells him that the freedom of information request that he filed has Titan DiMera bosses freaking out, and he is happy to hear it. She is worried that it will ultimately be traced back to her, but Steve tells her not to worry. He already has an inquiry, and everything has been handled. He reminds her that she hired him to look into the takeover of Titan.
Gabi is ready for all of the dirty details of what Xander and Phillip have done, and Steve shocks her when he says that all of the paperwork was absolutely fine. They agree that there must be something about the takeover that has them worried, because both Phillip and Xander are nervous.
Alex comes in as Stephanie is working on her murder mystery. He has a favor to ask her. He tells her that he can’t figure out who is looking into the takeover, but eventually they will figure out that Phillip isn’t the heir to Titan, and Victor’s letter was forged. Xander wants Stephanie hired to do PR to address Phillip’s fraud and any fallout.
She would rather recommend someone else, but agrees to help anyway. She says that she will do her best to make sure that Titan is prepared.
Gabi Panics While Talking to Phillip
Belle bumps into Phillip in Horton Square and tells him that Johnny’s case is now with the jury. She tells him that she hopes that she fell short of the job at hand, and that her nephew will be found not guilty. Belle says that EJ revealing their romance in open court is probably the most embarrassing moment of her life.
He apologizes for supporting her relationship with EJ, because he always knew that it was a mistake. Phillip reminds Belle that she can lean on him now if she needs to. He tells her that someone is poking around, trying to get information on the merger. As Belle gets a phone call, Gabi walks up and asks for a minute of Phillip’s time. She invites him to lunch at the Bistro. He doesn’t trust Gabi’s intentions at all and asks if she is trying to blow up the merger. Gabi panics and denies it. Phillip tells her that he believes her, for now.
It’s Steve on the phone, and he asks to meet Belle. She goes to his office, and it is the first time that she has visited the Black Patch since John’s death. They share tears over him and then move on to the topic at hand, the Titan DiMera merger. He starts to ask questions about Phillip’s behavior with the family business. Belle tells Steve that the attorney-client privilege binds her.
EJ Remembers the Details of the Night That He Was Shot
EJ is pouring a drink as Marlena and Rachel enter the room. Rachel makes a crack about his drinking and then goes to play with a glass paperweight, as the adults talk about court. As Marlena asks Rachel to put down the glass object, EJ begins to flash back to his shooting. He sees Rachel in a pink bathrobe holding a gun on him. She demands that he tell her where her grandma Rachel is, and when EJ tells her that he doesn’t know, she shoots him.
As Rachel drops the glass, EJ hears the gunshot in his head. Marlena realizes that something is wrong and gets her out of the room. He tells Marlena that it was his niece who shot him, and she doesn’t look at all surprised. She tells EJ that she suspected it was Rachel. Marlena says that when he was under hypnosis, he was seated and looking down while talking. If it were an adult, he would have been looking up. Also, Rachel has struggled ever since that night.
EJ Must Turn Rachel in to Save Johnny
Kristen is thrilled to see that Rachel is home. She talks to her mother about whether or not EJ is mad at her, saying that if Johnny goes to jail, then he will be angry. Kristen explains that Rachel has stayed with Marlena to cheer up her grandmother since she’s still grieving John.
Marlena believes that Rachel has no idea that she shot EJ, and they have to be careful about how the truth comes out. He pours another drink and says that he knows it was an accident; Rachel just wanted him to tell her where her grandmother was. Kristen walks in on the conversation and EJ stammers to tell her the truth.
At first, Kristen doesn’t believe him, so Marlena leans in about it being the truth. EJ explains the details that he remembers from the night in question. He walks Kristen through the details as she listens in horror. EJ won’t sacrifice Johnny for Rachel. Kristen begs EJ not to go to the police, and he tells her that it’s his son’s freedom hanging in the balance.
