Conner Floyd Exits ‘Y&R’ in Shocking Twist, Joins ‘Days of Our Lives’

Conner Floyd is officially closing the chapter on “The Young and the Restless.” The 32-year-old actor’s character, Chance Chancellor, met a dramatic end on the July 28 episode of the CBS soap, paving the way for Floyd’s next role on Peacock’s “Days of Our Lives.”

‘An Absolute Honor’

Floyd, who joined the long-running daytime drama in 2021, reflected on the emotional sendoff via Instagram. “It’s been real GC,” he wrote, alongside behind-the-scenes footage set to the Beastie Boys’ “B-Boys Makin’ With The Freak Freak.” “What a ride. I have truly been blessed to call myself a citizen of Genoa City. To share the stage with so many talented and hard working actors, creatives and crew members.”

He continued, “This is without a doubt a special place. I’m grateful to have been a part of such an iconic piece of art that has lasted through the decades and that has such a stellar, die-hard fan base. Thank you for accepting me.”

Floyd also shared his love for the character he portrayed. “Chance will always have a close place in my heart. He’s taught me a lot and I’ll miss him dearly. It’s been an absolute honor to represent the Chancellor legacy. Detective Chancellor, over and out.”

A Heroic Exit & New Beginning

In a dramatic storyline twist, Chance was killed while attempting to rescue Cane Ashby’s (Billy Flynn) wife, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), from a hostage situation in France. The culprit was revealed to be Carter (Vincent Stalba), assistant to Aristotle Dumas, who had already murdered Damian Kane (Germain Rivers).

Floyd opened up about the intense finale in an interview with TV Insider. “As sad as it is, I think that’s how Chance would want to go out,” he said. “That’s his story that he’s always been telling—that he’s a hero—and the ultimate person to put everybody else above himself, so I think it’s a little poetic in a way. And then the way I died in Billy Flynn’s arms is also very poetic.”

Recalling his final day on set, Floyd added, “We had this last scene, and everyone was clapping, and I was saying goodbye to everyone and walking out, and I cried like a baby. But there are good things on the horizon.”

Those “good things” include a highly anticipated move to “Days of Our Lives.” People confirmed in June that Floyd would take over the role of Chad DiMera following Flynn’s departure after more than 10 years. The soap’s official Instagram account posted a photo of Floyd outside his new dressing room.

Though taping began on June 23, fans won’t see Floyd on-screen as Chad until April 21, 2026, per People. Speaking to TV Insider about the transition, Floyd said, “Everyone’s awesome and very welcoming and very helpful. I’ve hit the ground running, and it’s been going great so far.”

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
Days of Our Lives streams new episodes weekdays on Peacock at 6 a.m. ET.
