Who is ‘Destination X’s’ Jonah Evarts?

As the new adventure reality show, “Destination X,” begins to pick up steam and drop contestants, many are curious about who these players are. While we recognized Josh Martinez from “Big Brother” and “The Challenge,” we were shocked when he was the first eliminated. “The Traitors” and “The Bachelor” alum Peter Weber and “Love Island’s” JaNa Craig are expected to join later. As for now, we’re left with nine characters about whom we know little.

One of these people is Jonah Evarts. While we can already see the scheming begin among the players as they begin strategizing how to win, Jonah is different. Who is this unassuming young man, and will he survive the growing cutthroat behavior of his cohorts?

Meet Jonah Evarts, the ‘Destination X’ Contestant Who Feels Lucky to Be There

Jonah Evarts is one of the nine remaining contestants after making it through the first episode of “Destination X.” An avid reader and storyteller born and raised in Manhattan, Kansas, he began using TikTok to share his favorite books. He soon amassed a following of over 140,000, which is apparently how he was discovered.

“I definitely never thought I would do something like this,” Jonah told local news station KSNT. “I thought this was like a pipe dream and the fact that it did happen, I am just so fortunate. So lucky that this came my way at all.”

What sets Jonah apart from the others is his kind and sensitive personality. He’s honest, and he looks at the game as a great adventure with an opportunity to meet new friends. This attitude, while refreshing, may be his downfall.

Jonah Has Lived in Asia, Taught English & Written Six Books

Jonah had previously lived in Vietnam and taught English. He traveled extensively around Asia, visiting Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Korea. He has also written six books. If anyone was full of curiosity and information, it was Jonah. But to some, his friendliness came across as weakness.

“You all seem really smart and competent, and I’m a little bit intimidated that I’m going to be the worst person here,” he said to the group in Episode 1. “I like everyone so far, you’re all super friendly!”

Out of everyone on the show, Jonah seems like the most unassuming and innocent. Unlike Mack Fitzgerald, who revealed that her strategy was to ally with “the dumbest person,” so she could “feed them information, get them to trust me,” and then throw them under the bus later in the game. Jonah doesn’t want to stab anyone in the back; he just wants to form connections. But is that enough to advance in “Destination X?”
