‘The Traitors’ Halts Season 4 Filming to Honor Local Scottish Family

Filming for Season 4 of Peacock’s Emmy Award-winning murder-mystery reality competition series “The Traitors” reportedly began earlier this month in Scotland. Similar to the UK version of the series, the show is filmed at Ardross Castle – a 14th century structure nestled in the Scottish Highlands.

On June 28, however, filming was reportedly stalled on Season 4, following pleas from a local family to allow them use a church on the castle’s grounds to host a funeral.

Production Pauses to Allow Local Family to Grieve

News of the show’s production halt was first reported by The Sun US this weekend. According to the publication, the filming on the forthcoming season was abruptly stalled to allow a local family to use Ardross Ark – a church on the castle grounds – to host a funeral for their late mother.

When the family asked to use the church, they claimed that they were initially turned away, with the church’s volunteer staff informing them that the grounds were occupied, filming “The Traitors” Season 4, until at least July 1.

A family member of the late woman took to social media following the news to express his disappointment, writing: “My mother has lived in Ardross for 72 years. For my mother to be denied the right to have her final farewell to Ardross in her local church is nothing less than a disgrace.”

After some communication with Peacock, however, it was agreed that “The Traitors” would temporarily pause filming for Season 4 to allow the family to grieve and honor their late mother.

“I would like to thank them for their understanding and allowing us to use the church,” the family member added in a later statement that similarly confirmed the local woman’s funeral would be held on June 27.

Who is Storming Ardross Castle on Season 4 of ‘The Traitors’?

With the local woman laid to rest last Friday, production for Season 4 of “The Traitors” has likely resumed, and may even be near completion. The forthcoming season will likely make its streaming debut on Peacock in early 2026, assuming it follows a similar release schedule to Season 3, which debuted in January.

While we don’t have an official release date, we do know that Alan Cumming will return as the show’s enigmatic host, who will oversee the season’s “Faithfuls” as they try to sniff out the “Traitors” before they’re killed off one by one.

Officially joining the cast of “The Traitors” Season 4 are reality TV stars like Ian Terry and Tiffany Mitchell from “Big Brother,” Monet X Change from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and “Love Island” stars Maura Higgins and Rob Rausch.

“Survivor” and “Real Housewives” alums will similarly storm Ardross Castle this season. From “Survivor,” big personalities and former winners like Yam Yam Arocho (“Survivor 44”), Natalie Anderson (“Survivor: San Juan del Sur”) and Rob Cesternino (“Survivor: The Amazon”) will join the cast, continuing the series’ trend of casting the biggest names in “Survivor” history. Additionally, a total of five “Real Housewives” will join the cast – Lisa Rinna (Beverly Hills), Porsha Williams (Atlanta), Candiace Dillard-Bassett (Potomac), Caroline Stanbury (Dubai) and, returning from “The Traitors” Season 3, Dorinda Medley (New York City).

Former “Bachelor” Colton Underwood will similarly compete, joined by “Dancing With the Stars” pro Mark Ballas and “Top Chef” Season 10 winner Kristen Kish.

A number of actors and athletes are similarly set to join the cast, including TV stars like Ron Funches (“BoJack Horseman”), Stephen Colletti (“One Tree Hill”) and Michael Rapaport (“Prison Break”), as well as two professional figure skaters – Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski. Also from the world of sports, Donna Kelce, the mother of NFL stars Jason and Travis Kelce (and Taylor Swift’s future mother-in-law) will also appear.

Singer, songwriter and Korean TV personality Eric Nam will round out the 23-person all-celebrity cast.
