‘Real World’ Execs Announce All-New Reality Show
Fans of reality survival series like “Survivor” and “Outlast” rejoice! Bunim/Murray Productions, the minds behind MTV’s “The Real World” and “The Challenge,” have announced that it is currently developing an all-new survival competition series.
In addition to unveiling the series’ title, “Predator vs. Prey,” the producers similarly revealed that “Reacher” star Alan Ritchson had been tapped to serve as “game master” and host. While it remains unclear when, or even where, the show will air, here’s everything you need to know about “Predator vs. Prey.”
What is the Premise of ‘Predator vs. Prey’?
The news of the all-new reality series dropped in an article with Variety, where the show’s producers revealed that “Predator vs. Prey” would see its contestants “compete in a 21-day game of hide and seek on a 25-square mile rugged wilderness course.”
Unlike other reality competition series like “Survivor” and “The Amazing Race,” which offer their winners a set grand prize of $1 million (barring special cases like “Survivor: Winners at War”), “Predator vs. Prey” will instead handle its prize money similar to “The Traitors,” which allows its contestants to earn up to $250,000, but only if they’re able to earn it during challenges throughout the season.
“The group will be divided into two groups, with Predators able to bank up to $500,000 for capturing Prey. Each episode will feature a different challenge that changes the game and forces Prey out of hiding,” Variety revealed.
Ritchson, whose credits included appearances in “Smallville” and “Fast X” as well as “Reacher,” will similarly join the project as an executive producer, alongside Bunim/Murray’s senior vice president of development, Gayani Wanigaratne.

“This series will be the ultimate test of grit and strength, pitting top survival stars against each other in a relentless game of chase and survival through a challenging wilderness environment,” said Wanigaratne in a statement. “Partnering with Alan to co-develop this format, fueled by his passion for the survival space, brings an authentic edge and fresh creative perspective. His first question to us was, when does he get to parachute into the wilderness to greet the players.”
Past Reality Stars to Compete in 21-Day Game of Hide-and-Seek
But which “top survival stars” will return to take on the “21-day game of hide-and-seek”?
According to Variety, “Predators vs. Prey” will feature a 15-person cast composed entirely of reality stars who have previously competed on shows like “Survivor,” “Alone,” “Outlast” and “Naked & Afraid.” As to which stars specifically will return, only time will tell, though Ritchson assured audiences that the cast will boast “the world’s best survivalists.”
Ritchson similarly revealed that the contestants will compete in the “high-octane game of hide-and-seek, all while surviving days or weeks in the most frightening, unpredictable scenarios Mother Nature has to offer.”
“TV doesn’t get more exciting than this,” Ritchson added. “I can’t wait to be in the wild with these contestants.”
