How does Matt Wright feel about his time on “Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing” Season 3? This has been the question on many of his fans’ minds after the season wrapped last Sunday, July 13. Many fans believed that Matt, the most seasoned survivalist entering the competition, would win. He was among the final three, together with Cheeny Plante and Darrin Reay, but ultimately it was Darrin’s game.
Matt is a nine-time “Naked and Afraid” All Star, and many feel he will be back for another season of “Last One Standing” to show everyone what he is made of, once again. For now, we have Matt’s thoughts on the competition as he made a lengthy post on Instagram reflecting on the experience.
Matt Wright Comments on His Last One Standing Experience
Matt began by thanking his fans for their support (he has 113,000 followers on Instagram alone). He also referred to the season as an “amazing challenge.” Speaking of “Last One Standing,” he said it was “unlike any version of survival you can find on TV.”
He continued, “There is the everyday aspects to stay alive mixed in with the real world seconds count on each event and strategy. It’s a different beast from normal survival and you never know when you will have a bad day and burn yourself (me). I have said it time and time again that I am never perfect. However, I am always trying to learn, adapt and improvise to become better.”
Matt praised his competitors and commented on the conditions that they faced in the Australian outback. “This LOS has had incredible opponents who ignore thorns, poison vines, engulfing heat and venomous snakes to take on each step along the way,” he wrote. “My boar hide hat goes off to each and everyone who takes this challenge on. No mater how you leave the competition you took it on and that says alot. As you can all see I put my heart and soul into every day.”
Why Did Matt Share With the Other Survivalists When They Were His Competition?
Matt is someone who has been known to share his successes, and he has proven himself as a fantastic hunter. While he could have kept his food for himself, he chose to share with his competitors, despite them standing between him and the $100,000 cash prize. He revealed that he has been asked why h would do this?
His answer: “As you all watched my multiple success with pigs, why in the world would I share with my competition? Great question. It’s simple really, I also wanted to showcase to the world that no elimination game or amount of money has to jeopardize our character,” he wrote. “My goal was to do what I can to make sure everyone is at their best much like an Olympic event. This location was very tough to hunt and I had to go further and harder to get it done.”
Sure, Matt didn’t win the competition, but he did win over many fans!
