‘The Masked Singer’ Winner Reveals What’s Next After Big Win

Gretchen Wilson is basking in victory after winning Season 13 of “The Masked Singer.” The country music powerhouse wowed fans as “Pearl,” a bedazzled alter ego that marked her return to the stage after a rough couple of years.

Wilson had stepped out of the spotlight due to post-COVID health issues and a broken leg. At the time, she “was almost depressed” and thinking it was over for her. Now, the Grammy winner is back in top form—thanks in large part to the show and the sparkly Pearl.

In an interview with “TooFab,” Wilson shared her plans following the big win—and they involve none other than her glammed-up persona. The singer admitted that while performing as Pearl is challenging, it has also awakened something in her.

In the beginning, it was so not comfortable. The head weighed more than I do. But every time I stepped into Pearl’s suit, I became Pearl. She’s always been in me. I was just afraid to let her out.

Wilson Reveals Future Plans With Pearl

Now, “The Masked Singer” champion plans to bring Pearl with her on tour. Wilson credits her alter ego for getting her spark back. However, there’s a particular part of the costume that she may not take with her. She joked:

Maybe not the head. But that feeling Pearl gave me, the confidence, the glamour, that’s staying with me. She classed up the redneck woman a bit.

And with country music making waves again, Wilson believes it’s the perfect time to get back on stage.

Wilson knows she still has a long way to go following her “The Masked Singer” victory. The singer remains optimistic as she looks forward to the future.

I don’t feel like I’ve reached my real purpose yet. This is all part of something bigger. I’m just going to keep putting one foot in front of the other until I figure it out.

Wilson Did Not Expect To Win ‘The Masked Singer’

Wilson’s journey as Pearl was never easy. In the same interview, the award-winning singer revealed she had been approached to join the show a couple of times. Eventually, she saw it as an opportunity to challenge herself.

I said yes for selfish, personal reasons. I needed to know if I had five or ten more years in me. Could I still do this?

Wilson admitted that she did not expect to win the competition. In fact, she believed Andy Grammer would take home the crown.

I thought Boogie Woogie had it from the minute I heard him sing. When they said my name, I almost hit the ground. It was shocking.

Aside from Gretchen Wilson (Pearl), other finalists include Andy Grammer (Boogie Woogie), Meg Donnelly (Coral), and Brian Kelley (Mad Scientist Monster). “The Masked Singer” is set to return for Season 14 in January 2026.
