‘Shark Tank’ Star Announces Exit From ABC’s Hit Show

After 14 years, Mark Cuban is calling it quits.

The “Shark Tank” investor, who joined the reality show in 2011, revealed that he will be leaving the show after the season 16 finale on May 16.

“My last @ABCSharkTank is this Friday. Gonna miss it. But it was time to move on,” Cuban wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, on May 15. “Make sure to watch !”

While he first joined as a guest panelist, Cuban became a full-time “shark” the following season and has been a staple of the show since. Throughout his tenure on the show, Cuban has invested in over 80 deals, for a total of around $20 million, per The Dallas Morning News.

Mark Cuban Reveals Why He Is Leaving ‘Shark Tank’

Cuban knew that Season 16 was going to be his last, and he revealed exactly why that was when speaking with People in an October 2024 interview.

“My kids are teenagers and I want to spend more time with them,” he told the outlet, specifically noting that he plans to take vacations with them now that he has more time.

“We always shoot in June and September, and in June, right when they’re finishing school, I have to come here,” he added. “When they were young it was like, ‘Okay, we’re going to wait for Dad.’ Now that they’re teenagers, they aren’t waiting for Dad at all, and in September they’ve just gotten back to school. I want to be there for that.”

Cuban has three children – Alexis, 22, Alyssa, 19, and Jake, 15 – with his wife, Tiffany Stewart.

Mark Cuban Reflects on Filming His Final Episode

When speaking with People, Cuban also reflected on what it was like during his last day on set, filming the season 16 finale.

“[It’s] going to be more about the crew and the staff because most of them have been here for 15 years and it’s family,” he said. “We all look forward to getting together twice a year for a long time and seeing each other for 12 hours a day.”

However, while leaving this is the “hardest part,” Cuban made one thing clear.

“I won’t miss the deals,” he stated.

“The deals are always out there, but I’ll miss the people and I’ll miss having an impact just from the show itself because we send a message every day that the American dream is alive and well,” Cuban continued.
